How much are the tickets? Could it be a cost issue? Even if it is your old school with a big hall there may be restricted seating nowadays (H & S rules). It may be that DIL just hasn't thought, especially if it's not your usual day. If some parents have bought more does that mean there's still some being sold?
  • My son's school has a very large hall, but there is still a restriction on the number of tickets available. This year, my in laws wanted to come to see my son in his Christmas production, but I just couldn't take them. My younger son's school had an inset day and my daughter wasn't at work, so they got priority. I did tell them, and they were disappointed, but that's life.
  • Also agree, speak to her and just say that you would love to have seen DGS but you know there might be a space issue, and you just thought you'd check in case. That way you give your DIL an easy way out. I wouldn't read too much into her asking her mum rather than you if there are limited tickets, possibly a little thoughtless but not a big crime...

Ring her now. Tell her that you've heard the nativity is tomorrow and is it alright if you tag along?

Then you will get your answer and it will stop eating you up. Be quick, time is marching on!

Please could you read back - There is NO limit on tickets! My sisters' kids only left last year and for thier last nativity at least six or seven tickets were bought! I know my sis, her husband, my mum, thier dads father, mums best friend and her daughter went!
Its NOT a limitation on tickets issue as I have heard mums talking about how many tickets they need!

Also, me and Nanny S dont HAVE set days - DILs shifts change weekly so as soon as she gets her roster she consults both of us on which days to have him! so, its not as if I never have him on Thursdays!

You sound as if you are getting quite upset over the whole issue.

I'm sure you DIL didn't mean to upset you she might have just thought you wanted the time to yourself. I'm sure DIL appreciates the fact she has two doting grannies giving free childcare so upsetting you would be the last thing she would want to do.

Why not speak to your son and say something like "I'm free tomorrow is it possible to come see the nativity blah blah?"

Some primary schools charge for seeing the Nativity play?

Glad my son's doesn't, and nor does it restrict tickets, but I did get corrected when I called it a Nativity... apparently it's a concert.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
