I've been lurking from post 1 and trying to decide which recipes to [STRIKE]nick[/STRIKE] use :D

It's my first year having a HM christmas and so far so good...
I am going to make some lemon curd and grapfruit curd, but all the recipes I find say it would last 1 week in the fridge... Would I be able to "properly" seal the jars to make it last longer?

Thank you for all the inspiration!!!!!! :T:T:T

    Love,

It's because the recipe uses eggs. Saying that, my grandmother used to make lemon curd multiple jars at a time and not use them for a couple of months at least. Here is a recipe which it says lasts 3 weeks:

  • I'm making blueberry and gin jam, and making material labels for the jars.

Do you glue the material labels on? And do you glue them to the side of the lids?

I need to cover my jar lids but can only find material held on with string/elastic orcard discs that don't cover the sides :undecided
  • You can buy new replacement lids in Lakeland if writing on the side of recycled ones bothers you.

Hampers with a difference from me and grumpy this year. Making a selection of steamed puds [syrup/jam/choc], no bake cheesecakes, fruit cake, steak pies, apple pies, little fondant fancy cakes [iced like presents] sweets [if I can get my Turkish delight to set grrr], truffles along with cheese straws. All the goodies that our clan love but never bake.

The lids are already on and the jars are sealed. I'm just not the most imaginative person when it comes to this sort of thing so I need ideas to inspire me. :o I just want to hide the print on the sides of the jars.

A fabric square and an elastic band/ribbon for the top? I'm sure they'll be an old top lurking in your wardrobe that you don't want any more :)
