I'm making peanut brittle for my Dad, I'm a poor (but enthusiastic!) baker so cookies are a no-go, hoping that I can't mess up the brittle too much!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

Definitely Nigella's Christmas truffles, using Cointeau, cream, Lidl 17p chocolate and Bourneville (I have 2 big bars left over from last year
).

I'm doing some variation of this recipe: http://www.britishlarder.co.uk/chocolate-salami/#axzz1YCiKbVfR
Seems customisable easily enough and can be made to look good easily.0 -
This is the first christmas I have done this but I found MSE this year so i thought I should to get to my debt free target by next xmas! I have made loads of jars with cookie ingrediants in and tied little wooden spoons to the handles, I have also hot choc ones in baby food jars and I will be making choc truffles for the hampers that I have made the grandparents!
The kids even did salt dough decorations yesterday! Cheapest and best christmas ever!!!0 -

I'm cooking presents for the first time this year too. Trying fudge as well because it looks easy and some red onion marmalade. Also looks easy and had good reviews (from the BBC good food website) so looking forward to making that. Fingers crossed it all goes ok, I'm not the best cook!0

I've made some jars of chilli jam, a hazelnut loaf cake and will be making a cherry and almond cake for dh and I's brothers and sister.
I'm hoping to do a small cake for each of our mums too but can't decide what to make them.
It's the first time that I've done this so I hope it goes down well as it's to bump up the presents.
I'd love to make fudge but I haven't seen a recipe that doesn't require a sugar thermometer and buying one just for that isn't very mse!0 -

I made fudge using this recipe the last two years, both times without a thermometer, it's fantastic. FIL has been dropping heavy hints about making more for months0 -
I've made fudge using this recipe http://www.waitrose.com/content/waitrose/en/home/recipes/recipe_directory/e/easy_chocolate_fudge_with_fruit_and_nuts.html It's great as it doesn't need boiling. Just remember to melt it really slowly otherwise it can end up a bit grainy but still delicious! I used half 'value' chocolate and half 70% cheapy choc and it was great. I topped mine with squiggles of white chocolate and some white choc tinted red using colour paste and it looked very festive.0

I've made Glittery Raspberry and Apple Jam, Raspberry and Apple Vodka (with the fruit that was left in the pan once I had sieved the jam) and Lemon Vodka (with reduced to clear lemons). I've bottled the Raspberry and Apple one and I'll bottle the lemon one this weekend.0
