I love all the flavours of christmas!!
Which Baileys fudge receipe do you use. I have looked on line and there are lots of different ones, would prefer a tried and tested receipe, as I have had some disasters with fudge. thanks0 -
I've made
Spicy caramelised red onion chutney
Caramelised red onion chutney
Chilli jam
Rhubarb and vanilla jam
Beetroot chutney
Toffee vodka
Limoncello
Lime curd
Things to make
Coconut ice and stollen0 -
also sorry to be a pain but when you used the left over raspberry and plum from the jam did you just add some vodka to it and leave it for a few days?
You're not being a pain hun, I'm glad to be of some help to someone. Once I'd sieved my jam all the bits were left in the bottom of the sieve. I emptied this into a sealable Tuppawear and just poured the vodka on top. Give it a good stir and then seal it and pop it somewhere safe for a couple of days to infuse. Open it and taste it, add sugar if necessary, reseal and leave for a couple more days and VOILA!. Mine took less than a week to infuse and become really fruity. When you're ready to bottle it, line a sieve with kitchen towel and sieve the vodka so that you get rid of all the seeds etc. Then discard the bits and bottle.0 -

Hi,
Can I jump in on this thread please?
I am currently making chutney (it is simmering away now!)
I spotted madvixen's advice on sterilising the jars, but how do you sterilise the lids?
Everyone I know is getting chutney this year, I have been saving jars for 6 months!
I have also made a big xmas cake that I am going to cut in to smaller portions and dress it up for people.
I have found the ingredients for all my cooking quite expensive though, it came to more than I realised it would!! And there was me thinking I was doing the cheap option this year by cooking all my presents

It does work out quite expensive i have found that out but its the satisfaction you get knowing you have made it and put time and effort into it which you cant get if you by shop bought presents. What i did with my jars is washed them out then left a little bit of water in the them and put the lid on but didnt do it up, i then put them into the oven on the lowest heat for about an hour.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0 -
I think my biggest expense has been all the different herbs and spices. Now I have them though I can make all sorts of things to last me through the winter.
My jars are now in the oven, chutney bubbling away, and fingers crossed that it doesn't all burn and ruin yet another set of pans!!0 -
i made chutney the other day, it looked lush also did glitter plum and apple jam, just doing the christmas biscotti now makes the house smell lovely!Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0
