Most of the people who have reported their experiences have been less than impressed. There is no reason forking out 25% for something you are quite capable of managing yourself.

Please read these threads and see if it changes your mind.

In his article, Martin describes them as "vultures". Personally, I think this is very unfair. Vultures are a vital part of their ecosystem.

    Hya all,
Not sure if this is where to post this thread as I seem to be getting it wrong all the time I try to post.
I am in the third/fourth stage of claiming from NATWEST ie, I am about to put in claim to online court. HOwever, I am beginning to have doubts in how I have calculated the charges and the interest and feel it may be better to get one of those companies to complete the claim for me.

Has anyone used any of those companies out there? Most of the companies seem to be charging 25% plus VAT. Any suggestions?
    cheers:confused::confused::confused: :mad:

If you have doubts about continuing to do this yourself you would be better to pass your claim on to the Financial Omubdsman.

there are company's out there that charge around 10% i tried one company and waited around 8 weeks and they still did not receive my statements so i have parted company with them and took the bank on my self i was getting fobbed off with excuses all the time about back logs and all sorts my personal advice would be to carry on the good work and do it yourself hope this helps.

Can martin or anyone else for that matter, help me??
Back in October/November last year, I contacted a company via the 'Which' website. They said they would recover my bank charges for a fee of 25%. They also stated that they could do this in approx six weeks. It is now getting on for seven months and despite my requests for info, I am just told that the banks are being difficult. Around three months ago, I was told that we were nearly at the last stages and now I am starting to get fed up with the wait. On a couple of occasions I have phoned and been told that someone would call me back later with info and then not heard back from them. Its all frustrating!!
Although I signed something to say I would stick with them, does anyone know if there is a way out of it as Im sure i could do this quicker myself?
Im fed up with the lack of information, the non-return of calls and the total mis-calculation of time scale that was suggested. Please help and advise.

    thanks

Depends exactly on what you signed as to how watertight it is.

If you can't speak to anyone, send them a letter recorded delivery, setting out what they said they'd do and how they have failed. Let them know you are unhappy with the service and in light of this, you wish to cancel your agreement and carry out the process yourself.

I have sent an application to the above company to reclaim my charges. I had sent ALL my statements over the last 6 years and I have not heard a thing.

Everytime I ring them they tell me they have sent a letter but I have never recieved a letter. I applied at the beginning of April and wondered if this was normal?

There is also more urgency to sort this out as I have had the account closed this month and I am also moving house.

This is a bad move unfortunately. I haven't heard of any reclaim company being praised by any claimant. Using a 3rd party (other than a legitimate solicitor) to manage these reclaims is inherently dangerous... and costly.

They are unlicensed and have no legal protection.

Firstly you need to look closely at the small print on your contract with them.

You're looking specifically for cancellation penalties. Depending on what you find effects what you do next. Ultimately you need to cancel with them (if that is what you want to do).

There is no reason you can't do this reclaiming yourself. If you really want to get a 3rd party to do it then you can either use the Financial Ombudsman who charges nothing, or use a legitimate solicitor.
