In my case, I spoke to bank myself and lloyds told me they dont like dealing with 3rd party companies and its likely they will take as long as they are allowed to get statements.
I was also told ( by company) that they were still waiting for statements! thats when i decided i needed to do it myself as it couldnt possibly take any longer than it does with a company! I havent looked back since.0 -
At the moment i am using a company to reclaim my charges bck, the only process so far is HSBC sent me my statements and i forwarded them on to the company that is dealing with my request. Am i legally bound to this company now or could i just do my own letters and ring the company up and not bother reclaiming with them?0

I also started my claim with a company, but got fed up waiting for them to get anywhere or contact me.
So after sending them a letter dis-instructing them I started the whole process again on my own.
Beware! if you signed a contract as you may not be able to get out of it. Maybe you should give them a ring and find out where they are at in regards to your claim. ( company i used were still awaiting statements when i sent letter to dis-instruct them)
Find out what they will charge you if you cancel. There is another thread on here somewhere which i have posted the letters that i sent to company, and a letter to the bank to say i am representing myself and not to send any correspondance to the company.

Cancel their services and do this yourself. It is easy to do if you follow the templates and timelines. Consumer Action Group is also a very good source of advice. These companies have no more clout with the banks than you do and they'll charge you a hefty fee also no doubt!0 -
I've been told about a company called ****** who are able to do the 'legwork' in reclaiming back charges. I'd quite like to use them to reclaim my charges (which i think could run into £thousands). They would look for 25% of final charges recouped as payment, once a settlement has been reached with the bank (and has been paid by them).
Im very tempted to use them - even at the cost of having to pay them. Mostly for two reasons....its taken out of my hands (I'm not good with letters etc - and also get the feeling I would bottle out of the process halfway), and secondly because the thought of delaing with my bank frightens the wotsits out of me.
So any advice/opinions would be great. If you've used them, are they legit as such?
Thanks

Heard of lots of companies who are willing to do this but i personally would like to do it by myself as its not a major hassle and you get to keep all of your money which the bank has taken off you in the past - just think of the achievement when you get it all back yourself - i for one will be very proud of myself to get one over on the bank!!
Its not a hard process all the templates are on this fantastic site and if your ever in doubt about anything you can either search the forum (as someone prob has asked the question before) or post your query on here there are loads of nice people in the same boat who are very helpful and willing to give you support if you need it.
If you have the time i would say do it yourself and if you get a little scared just read some of the success stories on here thats motivation enough to proceed with your claimLBM - April 2007Claimed back my bank charges from Natwest - £1196Halifax Credit Card Claiming £467.35 Rec £467.35!/Capital One Card Claiming - £523.92/Barclaycard Claiming - £403.58 Rec £403.58/MBNA Claiming - £584.37 Rec£584.37Proud to be dealing with my debtsUpdate: 2009 - Currently claiming £1900 from Natwest0 -
