I don't pay tax on my ING account. If I open up a websaver, will I pay tax?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

it doesn't pay interest gross by default on the new (websaver) account, even though your regular ING account does, so you have to register that account for gross interest with them as well.0 -
I've just applied for a ING web saver savings account but I can't seem to find out when they pay out interest. Does anyone know if interest is paid monthly like the standard ING savings account?something missing0

Monthly - to the last day of each month - viewable on your account by 1st.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

I'm in the same position, but if we have to deal with them by internet only, is there a facility to request tax-free interest? When I opened my original account I had to send them a form IR something or other - should I just get hold of one of these from my local Tax Office and send it in to them, quoting my new Websaver account number?
I think the relevant form might be downloadable too, but doubt they would accept an emailed copy as they would need the original signature - I assume.
What I really don't want is the hassle of re-claiming deducted tax, so any advise as to the best way of getting this sorted before end of Feb would be much appreciated.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Phone 'em. It'll take a couple minutes to register for gross interest.0 -

Yes, just give them a call. If you already have one account with them registered for gross interest they can apply that to your other account once you've phoned them and they've read out the spiel to you.0 -
I received a e-mail telling me about the new Web Saver Rate yesterday and welcomed it - I won't be moving my money elsewhere now.
I set up a Direct Web Saver tranferring some funds from my existing ING Savings Account. ING state that the Direct Web Saver is to be managed via the internet alone - but as I still have my original savings account I assume I can still ring them about that?Office Monkey0 -
Best of luck to anyone trying to ring ING today and wanting to speak to an "adviser". I just went through all that rigmarole of entering account & pin no's, listening to waffle etc., only to be told there was a 20 minute queue - this is on an 0845 number so I hung up.
I only want to arrange for my interest to be paid without deduction of tax, same as my existing account with them. They don't appear to believe in email contact, so it seems I'll have to write to them. :rolleyes:I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Groan. I closed my ING account recently as I hadn't used it in ages and it saved me bothering with it on my tax return. Now they do this! At least I don't have to bother with it as it now no longer applies to me... so I need somewhere to move my money from Birmingham Midshires to (due to their crap handling of my first money transfer).0
