Remember that one factor that you need to account for is how you use your machine, if you browse the net, email and word process you need robust security. If you download programs, torrents and other material you need the next level up. You can use multiple AV products, but its not advised (resource hogs), although I did run Avast and AVG together for a while, I then opted for AVG and NOD32. I am about to change Firewall from Zone Alarm (free) to another, having also used the old sygate for a time, both of which were behind a hardware firewall, which was not sufficient for the type of use my pc gets!0

Chateau, it depends on your level of technical ability, and what you use the pc for..... onecare offers nothing that you cant get already for free, the issue with the free software that does the same thing is - that you will need more than one bit of software to do the job(s), and some of them need to be updated by the click of a button rather than automatic updates. So for probably 80% of users - save the money, take your pick of the best suggestions and software above, and do it for free.0

I'm currently using:
Comodo Firewall Pro (free)
Nod32 Antivirus System (£41 for a two year subscription)
AdAware Professional (free)
SpywareBlaster (free)
CCleaner (free)
Spybot Search & Destroy (free- I don't know why I use it because it NEVER finds anything)0 -
