Looking at those tests, of the 3 freebies, Avast and Avira appear slightly more effective than AVG ( though AV-test reverses that puttig Avira ahead of AVG ahead of Avast!).
Avast appears to have the least impact on normal performance.
Tricky (and confusing) decision but I'm going to stick with Avast.
been using AVG for years but unsure how effective it really is, and definitely slowing performance. Messes up RAM and Flash videos loading, always wanting to nearly crash system when any embedded code come on
Some time ago I used Avast, but wasn't satisfied with it. Today my choice is the combination of NOD32 and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - their overall performance is good enough.
