"Genuine" sites can be compromised & image files used to hide malicious code.
  • A colleague of mine recommended using Comodo, they offer a free verison of solutions to meet all your security needs.

    Top Notch stuff.

I was using MSE. Currently a beta tester for F-Secure Internet Security. Called F-Secure Technology Preview, it gives me access via email to their latest tools which end up in the next version, presumably F-Secure Internet Security 2015.

Surely being in beta, theres a chance that your computer is more open to infection?

Not really. Quite the opposite in fact as the F-Secure deliver the very latest Internet Security Technology Preview updates thick and fast via email as well as auto updates of the min program itself. This in effect gives one something akin to F-Secures 2015 version.

    In the techie news today:
Independent test lab AV-Test has completed a series of tests for antivirus/anti-malware products on Windows 8 and 8.1.

They seem to like Kaspersky, but amongst the free products, AVG scores better for protection than Avast, and Panda seems to be even better (but slower).

Does anyone know what sort of security I should be using for a Mac? We've had nothing but basic since we've had it but we've never had problems

Up until a month ago I was using Avira but I kept getting pop ups trying to get me to download the paid version and they annoyed the heck out of me.

I am using Avast now and am happy with it.
