Hi
They're not free but i swear by Kaspersky Anti Hacker and Kaspersky Anti-Virus, I had Mcafee before that but it caused a load of problems, the main one being that my cpu usage was far too high with their spamkiller and my computer ran VVVery slowly.
I also have Spybot Search and Destroy for adware/spyware etc which is free and seems to be working fine, i have had no problems with these (installed for a year now)0 -

Hi,
I use ariva, its lightweight and picks up must things. But be warned, it does throw up annoying pop-ups asking you to purchase the pro version.
Thinking about changing to avast, which is better, ariva or avast?

Is there any evidence at all that Norton is in any way better than the free alternatives?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

No, but it came free with the machine... It has caught more stuff than the McAfee security center system I use on my laptop.
To be honest, I will probably go to "free" once my subscription ends.0 -

I am using Symantec AntiVirus, Sygate firewall, Spyware Blaster, Adaware & Crap Cleaner. Whenever I run a Scan with any of them, they ALL claim to have caught something!!
I wonder if this is a built-in tool, just to reassure us. I mean how can one system miss things and another find them! Very doubtful, what does Toxteth O' Grady think ??"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -

It's often said that some programs give false positives to make it look like they're working and also to try and get you to buy an upgraded version.
Amongst other things I use SpyBot and AdAware. After running AdAware and cleaning my system, Spybot will often find 10 - 12 items to delete. I think this is because they look for different things. This proves it is always a good idea to use a number of different programs on your computer.
