You should only be running one real time anti-virus program, so if you have subscribed to Norton, remove AVG free. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

When my Norton subscription runs out, will AVG do on it's own ?
Yes, AVG, Avast and Antivir are the most commonly recommended free anti-virus programs but only have one running at a time to avoid clashes.
Just noticed that you haven't mentioned a firewall. If this is not included as part of your Norton package you should definitely install a free firewall like Zone Alarm, Kerio etc. ASAP. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I am assuming that my Norton security centre includes a firewall ? Where could I find that out when I open the centre up ?
EDIT, just found out a screen that says 'personal firewall - ON'****************************0 -

That's fine then. Originally you just said Norton, however there are many Norton products but if you have Norton Security Centre, that's OK. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Ewido
Ashamppo firewall
Cralwer parental controls
all to replace my soon to expire Norton package. However, the computer now freezes solid half way through the boot up and I cannot do anything to even investigate why. What should I do?Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

Have you installed these before removing your Norton package? Only one firewall/anti-virus package should be installed to avoid clashes. Try booting into safe mode and uninstall from there.
