Just a question Waddler, is it possible to update my IE to number 8 version rather than 9? (running 7 at moment.)

    Thank you,

    Magenta:)

(I have downloaded the Service Pack 1 six times now!!!!, although each time I get 'download successful' my pc does not seem to agree and windows update keeps asking me to install this 'very important update'!!!

Try method 3 (Obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack from the Microsoft Download Center) in the link I gave you previously if you're having problems doing it through Windows Update.

Yes, but I would recommend IE9 over IE8.

Any reason you don't want to use IE9 in particular?

Thanks Waddler, I have now downloaded Service Pack 2 twice using method three, but at the end of the download I get the message 'This download is not compatible with your system'
I downloaded the one for Windows Vista for it has not worked.
I am now begining to despair:(:(

You have to download and install SP1 before SP2.
Important Before you install Windows Vista SP2 from the Download Center, follow these steps:

Make sure that you have installed Windows Vista SP1.

    SP1 is a prerequisite for SP2.

    It's 32bit (x86) that you want.

Magenta, is SP1 actually installed? If not, download & install it using method 3. Ensure it's installed before trying to download SP2.

    Downloads here:

    SP2 -> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16468

The paid monthly one for Comodo can stop it when ever I want. Allows offsite storage too of critical data on secure servers as well using Comodo Cloud Storage the best security I have ever used I think and does not slow down a computer like Norton does. Though I have never used Norton since 2003 when I started building my own computers.

The reason I like to pay for Comodo is I like all my security software in one place (though you can get both antivirus and firewall security from them for free the same features too). I don't use the geek buddy, there's this utility they provide that allows you to get in contact with a specialist actually their not specialists their just customer services people who have always told me what I know already.

The only feature that's worth paying for by them is the Cloud Storage which for about £2-3 a month is not too bad reasonable value I think you can purchase more space but they start you off with I think it's either 1GB or 10GB I can't quite remember.

You would have to pay me at least £300 a month to even start thinking about using Norton's software for anything it's just not worth the bother in waiting for things to happen. Though allot of the time Comodo puts things in an isolated environment like when I try using C++ compilers with Netbeans tends to block all my applications about 6-8 times until I add all the compilers to the trusted files and then am allowed to run my own apps.

But Comodo also allows you to see detailed analysis of what's going out and into your computer from that node as well son you can see if perhaps a process has been hijacked and is clogging up your network. Comodo's security software is faily advanced to use though if you like tweaking things Comodo is great.
Doing some indepth analysis of my outgoings it's a real eye opener!

I find if I keep paying by card and keeping the receipts insisting that I have them from the shop, then itemising them when I get home on excel makes my life a whooole lot easier!
