Download Version 10 from here (Uncheck the Mcafee Security scan before downloading): http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
They are the two programs most commonly exploited to facilitate the download & installation of malware. Should you browse to a compromised site you would possibly get infected.

Update Windows & IE. There are 2 service packs missing.
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
Uninstall that version of Java (Update 1), Update 33 is ok.
Uninstall that version of Adobe Reader (8).
