So the ESET Smart Security runs out on my little Acer travel laptop which is on windows 7 in about a week from now.
I have the impression that the computer runs slower with this system - its kind of like there's someone there over your shoulder double checking everything you click on....esp. when opening up a new web page. Its certainly not so lively as the older Toshiba which went from Vista upto Win7 and only has NOD32 anti-virus.
What do you folks reckon? go with something new or carry on with this?0 -
We disabled Safari on the ipad2 and use the k9 browser, works great for our 10 year old!:)0

use AVG free, McAfee is a pile of doggy doo. ALmost no antivirus is worth paying for, Malwarebytes free is pretty damn good as well

I have AVG running and fire up malwarebytes manually now and then, between them they zap most nasties. I know a few pro's who use them as well.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. I had Mc Afee for years as part of a package, until my machine was infected last year. Then, guess what? Mc Afee wanted a pile more money to help me!
Instead, I had free help from a techie at Malwarebytes, who talked me through the malware removal, step by step via email. I was very impressed.
Like others, I now use AVG free, plus Malwarebytes & Superantispyware as manual double-checks. I clean out cookies etc regularly with C Cleaner.
Although I have the free Comodo firewall, I dare say the Windows one is fine.0 -
We use ESET Nod-32. it is an excellent product that does a brilliant job of protecting our computers and laptops. Basically rather than waiting for the software company to define viruses and trojans if a piece of software acts like a virus ( sending out spam or trying to take control of your computer) it will treat it like a virus and block it until you say otherwise.
It is also great value for money!0 -
Avast for about 4 years. Had to install Malwarebytes after about 18 months. Haven't had any problems since. And both of these are freeWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

I've been using Microsoft SE & Windows Firewall since M$ sorted them out a few years back (Windows firewall used to be dire)
Upgrading to Windows 7 is also a good idea (XP has been turned inside out by the naughty boys and all it takes is to be missing some update or other to become vulnerable. Plus, it's not fully supported any more)Beeeeees!!0
