Just to say, from a scanner point of view, it's not great.
It's best feature is 'Immunise'.
I'm sorting out a desktop right now, and again Spybot has stopped the 'Hosts' file from being altered.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

You can have a PC like Fort Knox but care still has to be taken at what sties are visited, don't open dodgy files etc. I know people who do but have others use their PC and end up trashing it up. Phising is another story entirely.
I actually recently installed Ubuntu in VMware player to try it out amongst other things. Linux opearating systems are quite notorius for being very secure, a bit of care still has to be take though as you could act like a kind of immune carrier to infect someone else.
why is it your problem if someone else doesnt look after themself.?
do you leave your front door key in the lock outside.?
using microshaft is the same analogy.
anyone can walk in if they feel like it.
linux,

Exactly. And I'm an IT Engineer and Linux is far from user friendly for the majority of users. Even I don't get on with it. I know a guy who has loads of MS certificates. Knows loads in networking and is an IT Consultant. He's not an MS fanboy, it's just were the money was/is. He now also likes Apple. I thought he'd def know Linux, but he said he doesn't. He just can't get a long with it.
People are free to try Linux, as it's free and can run from CD. But Windows isn't as bad as people make out. Linux, if popular, would be attacked just as much as MS products are. But due to it being less popular, it's ignored. People seem to fail to see that.0 -
It's not just that, it is inherently safer in many respects and common viruses engineered for linux would fizzle out naturaly. You just don't want to be the one whose computer is out of action while you fix it.

The !!!!! was m a f i a ?????
But a bit of common sense protects you from this and it's easier than windows for me (everyone make their own choices though). I do own a BSD laptop but that's just because I wanted to turn round to linux heads and say BSD is safer than linux (also more work tbh)

Good evening techie folks, could you please give me some advice re Kaspersky Internet Security?
I currently have a 3 user 2009 disc which I've upgraded to the 2010 version.
If I purchase a new 2011 version, will I need to uninstall the 2009 version?
Also, I would like to install the new 2011 version onto a new PC and my sons laptop, as opposed to a friends PC (I helped her out last year as her McAfee had expired) I now have a second PC which needs the protection, plus my own laptop.
Many thanks in advance...................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -

It 'should' work by simply installing. But id recommend uninstalling 2009 first
Whatever machines your installing onto make sure theyre free of whatever anti virus program they have now (using mcafees removal tool for example):idea:0
