Hello folks. looking for FREE decent version of the above for a ' non-techie' [ if that is relevant]. the standard version is failing quite often...is that unusual ? Been on download.com but nothing seemed to stand out, most to buy.

Thanks in advance, and seasons greetings !

My security setup consists of "Avast, The Stubware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Super Anti Spyware, Malwarebytes, Secunia PSI and Comodo for the firewall. You can never be too careful!

In the browser i use the Noscript and BetterPrivacy addons, and also, a new kind of threat, that is not addressed by many virus scanners, is facebook scam applications, ive found a good way to alert yourself to these is to use a free browser add-on called FB Purity, it basically filters out all unknown applications, so you are not tempted to accidentally click on them by mistake, you can still check them out if you are curious and add them to a whitelist if you trust them, so they are no longer filtered out. it has some other cool features too, like single click application blocking, which ensures your private account information is not acccesible to the dodgy applications, plus other cool non privacy/security related features, such as word/phrase message filtering, anyway, if you would like to try it, just google "fb purity"
  • I'm trying to update the security on my Mums laptop. I have downloaded AVG, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy and CCleaner. Is there anything else I should add?

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
CCLEANER has nothing to do with security. It just cleans up the system
