I've been using Avast and it's free. What you need to do is register for a free license which would last you for a year, then you just need to register again.
Try looking under registration.
If it's for home use, there's really no reason to buy the pro version. I'm not sure if you've already got this installed, but try Spybot. It's great for dealing with spyware/adware, and it protects your browser as well from these pesky stuff. Just use the immunise function.
Try Googling for Spybot as I'm not allowed to post the link0 -

Does that not seriously affect your running speed, ie fight each other??I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Not at all. Avast is my antivirus, and online armour my firewall. Spywareblaster uses virtually no resources, Anvir task manager very litle.
The others are on demand. :cool:0 -

Short answer is no, should be fine. She's only got 2 real-time security progs. running at once.
Avast is an antivirus program, and online armour is a firewall. You only want one of each running at any one time (or they will 'fight' each other), but ideally you should have both i.e. one of each: a firewall and an antivirus program.
Malwarebytes and Superantispyware are used as and when you need them, so they don't interfere. SaS does have real-time protection, but I personally don't use this. Doubt it would hurt to have both on, since they don't do exactly the same thing, but I feel 'safe' enough using SaS 'as and when'. Think you have to pay for MBAM to have real-time protection anyway, so that's ok. I believe it's okay to have several anti-spyware/anti-malware-type programs running together, but don't believe it to be necessary, and could slow things down, depending on your 'rig'
Spywareblaster adds sites to your browser's blocklist to make it safer. (Spybot S&D also has a feature to do this). They're not running applications. They just do their job and then 'keep quiet'
One of the things that made FF so popular is it's add-ons. There are some great ones, particularly, from a security point of view, AdblockPlus and NoScript. Something such as Linkextend or just WoT can be handy too. Having too many add-ons can bloat FF and make it slow, so it's important to only have ones you feel you really need/want. I just disable the ones I'm not sure about, then remove if I don't miss them.
Anvir is new to me Sublime. Will check it out. Thanks
Sandboxie.. again.. hmph. I really must have a more thorough look at that. It looks cool, but I haven't used it yet.
EDIT: You beat me to it. You also said pretty much the same thing with far fewer words :D0
