    Hi

My Norton 360 anti virus is due to expire next month and I was just going to get another one but there seems to be a question mark here on whether you need it, and also whether it is any good? My dd does a lot of surfing on her laptop and I do a lot of online shopping. Are there other cheaper ways of protecting pc's and laptops that will not slow them down too much?

    Any assistance apprecaited.

no need to pay/ use the brilliant and free Avast/ Firefox with NoScript is always useful too/ Paid-for malwarebytes is something i use too -- a one-off (extremely reasonable ) payment and lifetime install //

Use Comodo internet security suite. It is free for life and has a firewall AV, built in sandbox and system protect.
    Comodo
It said on the box requires Windows 7 or better, so I bought a MAC

I've been using Avast and it's free. What you need to do is register for a free license which would last you for a year, then you just need to register again.

    Try looking under registration.

If it's for home use, there's really no reason to buy the pro version. I'm not sure if you've already got this installed, but try Spybot. It's great for dealing with spyware/adware, and it protects your browser as well from these pesky stuff. Just use the immunise function.

Try Googling for Spybot as I'm not allowed to post the link :(

Ok tried finding registrations and I can't, all I get is subscription via maintenance.

Can anyone clue a complete comp dork on this on??? ;)

    Well, almost, ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Or just wait until the end of the initial period (60 days?) approaches, and it will prompt you itself.
    Move along, nothing to see.

I've not used it for ages, hopefully someone else will be along.

Just to check, you are right clicking the orange icon?
I *think* that's what you need to do.
