Anvir is new to me Sublime. Will check it out. Thanks

Sandboxie.. again.. hmph. I really must have a more thorough look at that. It looks cool, but I haven't used it yet.

EDIT: You beat me to it. You also said pretty much the same thing with far fewer words :D

I got the full shareware version free from a Dottech promo here. It normally costs $39.95, and is better than the free version. I use it as a replacement for windows task manager, and winpatrol. It doesn't say suitable for windows 7, but works fine on 64 bit.

Sandboxie, I don't use all the time, but is handy sometimes. I'm thinking of getting the paid version as more functional.

I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Avast is an antivirus program, and online armour is a firewall. You only want one of each running at any one time (or they will 'fight' each other), but ideally you should have both i.e. one of each: a firewall and an antivirus program.

    McAfee Antivirus and Avast Antivirus?

Microsoft Security Essentials - it's surprisingly effective I reckon, and doesn't cause obvious slowdown on my pc.

After a fresh O/S install, I generally turn off unnecessary services, avoid dodgy sites and (touch wood) haven't really needed the use of internet/virus security.

Yes, I "thing it was", however that was just a couple of days before the McAffee licence ran out so I now run the freebie Avast and Malwarebytes along with the standard Microsoft firewall and all seems ok. Sorry to be vague but this is not my "area" :rotfl:and thats putting it mildly.

What others have you used? Just as a comparison.
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • Hi

My Norton 360 anti virus is due to expire next month and I was just going to get another one but there seems to be a question mark here on whether you need it, and also whether it is any good? My dd does a lot of surfing on her laptop and I do a lot of online shopping. Are there other cheaper ways of protecting pc's and laptops that will not slow them down too much?

    Any assistance apprecaited.
