You don't get good...CHEAP/FREE security.
I bet Kapersky has been compromised more often than any of the nix OSs, and you don't really think a tenner was expensive do you?

or better still use a Linux operating system such as PCLINUXOS 2010. Can easily set up as a dual boot with any flavour Windows operating system you want. Just do all your really secure stuff such as shopping and online banking by booting up the Linux side.:beer:0

Get a proper prog.
Kaspersky 2009 Internet security on ebay. A tenner post paid. Updates to 2010 automatically. Works a treat. Genuine and boxed. I would not trust freebies with my bank account. Why chance your details for a tenner ?
And before you ask...no I have nothing to gain by this reply.
You don't get good...CHEAP/FREE security.
Kaspersky is a decent AV/Firewall but there are some really good FREE alternatives nowadays. Try Avira, MS Essentials, AVG or Avast. As for firewalls then Agnitum FREE and Comodo probably rate as the betters ones.
Just because you use Kaspersky does not mean that your banking details or accounts cannot be compromised, you're very naive if you believe that.
I deal with security problems, ethical hacking and malware analysis on a daily basis, and I do see many people without a clue in regards to internet security. Heck I don't even use my real IP on any forums, the staff here would confirm this if they have the knowledge.
Too many people put too much trust in security based programs without understanding the ins and outs of things. In my opinion the worst of the lot are Norton, they are everywhere and I would not trust any of my machines with their products.
Linux is great if you can get your head around it but sadly not all the software I use is compatible so I tend to use a well secured windows box.0 -
I've got Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and it slows my PC down soo much.
In fact I'm loathe to put it on my new laptop when it arrives.
Any advice to speed it up? One bothersome aspect is the 'rootkit scan' it performs with no means to turn it off. I've read vague mention of downloadable skins that incorporate an off button for this scan but without advice I'm wary to hunt one down.
So anyone have any advice and should I bother putting it on my laptop? (got one last user key for it)IAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0
