the helkern worm has made a few attempts to attack me today. i think kaspersky has stopped it but as kaspersky is hard to understand i am not sure. there is a list of events were it says 5 have been scanned and 5 have been blocked. so i suppose it has done its job.0

There may be something else downloading it. It might be worth doing a quick scan with Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.phpdonnajunkie wrote: »the helkern worm has made a few attempts to attack me today. i think kaspersky has stopped it but as kaspersky is hard to understand i am not sure. there is a list of events were it says 5 have been scanned and 5 have been blocked. so i suppose it has done its job.0 -

All free stuff but it seems to have done the trick over the years (fingers crossed):
Avast! Antivirus, Comodo Firewall, Spybot S&D, Spyware Blaster, Firefox addons (adblock plus, Iconix, Noscript).
Thanks for mentioning the Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 offer, ill seriously look into that.0 -
If you want Kaspersky there's no better place than eBay
, been using licenses purchased from ebay for the past four years without any problems. 0 -
No Firewall or Anti-Virus on Laptop, just uses vital resources for no need! Have my router locked down and only accepts ports I manually configure, plus it's in NAT state.0

Completely agree with aliEnRIK. I can understand that you are protected by your hardware firewall, but running without a virus scanner is just begging for trouble.
I've had to install a software firewall on my laptop as I often use my 3G dongle when out and about.0
