  • Morning all.

Happy birthday n9eav!! Happy anniversaries to CCstar and Pink and hope master Pink gets well soon.

Looks like I'm the only one who slept in this morning:o
Mad rush in the house and everyone arguing. OH is a grumpy sod in the morning, just scowling and silent. Thought I saw hime smile at the girls at breakfast but think it he might just have had a touch of wind:rolleyes:

I know what you mean about those comments. Since the kids went to school i've had a few "what do you do with yourself all day?"s
Even OH has said a few times when he's tired, "well I've been at work all day"
No offence but he sits in front of a computer all day then comes home at 6 and relaxes. I get up an hour before him at seven, prepare breakfast, get kids ready, take them to school come home, make bread, make beds, do washing, do dishes, do his paperwork, clean house, do some ironing, make business calls, do shopping, prepare tea piick up kids, do homework, finish tea, do dishes, make packed lunches, tidy up, bath kids and spend the evening writing:rolleyes:
I work in a shop a few days a week and do some paperwork for a friend.
The only time my bum hits a seat is when I eat or when I'm on here:o

Some men will never understand as they think half the stuff we do doesn't need done anyway:mad:

Sorry, rant over. This has just touched a raw nerve.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

ps. Moggins your pics on Flylady thread were lovely and don't let anyone wind you up:A

Well a new month, another attempt at the diet:rolleyes: & more importantly I am going to be really really strict on budgeting this month as it's all gone to hell recently & we've been seriously over spending, so I am on a cash only month from today. And I am going to sit down & plan a months meals & shopping lists if it kills me! Expect to see me on the grocery challange threads!:p

This morning is a general tidy round & everyday clenaing, then off to tescos to get a bottle of wine (with a bonus clubcard points voucher;)) for our last minute baby sitter tonight, this afternoon is a "me" afternoon (if Spud will let me!), giving myself a facial steam, manicure, pedicure & intensive hair conditiong treatment, then tonight is our evening with David Attenbrough:D Have at last established that the dress code is smart casual so looks like it's black trousers & a top which is a bit of a relief:p Hubby was so excited last night about meeting his hero that he couldnt' sleep! The last time I saw him this excited was the night before we went off on a bird-watching trek through the Indian jungle:rolleyes: ahh...bless him:rolleyes:;)

Have a fab day everyone & :grouphug:all round, just because...:A:D

    Cheers:T

Well - never made it school

DD fell in my back garden, accidently kicked a 3x2" concrete slab and it fell on her, grazed her leg, nothing too serious, but the poor little mite was sobbing. So she can stay at home. Ive just rung in work - left a message on manager's voicemail, to say I wont be coming in.

DS still going with my mum, I her told thanks but no need, but she's still offered to take him. Who am I to argue, not everyday I get free child care.

I hold my hands up to SAHM, and admire anyone who does this. I work part time, mon-fri 10am-2pm, ideal hours to work around the children in school time. But I still have to maintain the house, cook meals, do the school run's, organise childcare in the holidays., etc, etc, etc. I've been at home before (off sick with depression or bad back), and especially during the holidays when the kids are at home, it is hard work. To do it 24/7 - you all deserve a medal!

anniestar I do hope the cats are ok after their trip to the vets!

Right off to do what SAHM's do and make a start on some housework. Did a majority of it last night, so shouldn't take me long.

    Be back soon.
    Take care

My goodness, what a lot to read so early in the morning! This is just a quick one just now and will speak to you all later.

Sorry to hear about poorly people (big and wee) and cats - hope all get better soon. Happy birthdays and anniversaries.

Chardonnay Killer Whales around about the Fife side of the Forth Bridge. They were seen fairly near St David's Bay (next to Dalgety Bay). I think you live in Fife so you will probably know where that is. BTW you sound as though you have had a right dose of the flu!

N9eav - Happy Birthday - I'm hereby giving you the day off as it's your birthday.......put down that paintbrush and step away from your daughters room!!! (or else)

I've updated my piccies on the "who's who" thread - my earlier ones had vanished.....great to put faces to names - some look exactly as I'd imagined and others just look far to glam (moggins!!!!) ;)

Today I shall be making a duvet cover - I can't find a decent one cheap enough so I shall be using some kingsized flat sheets that someone donated to me last year - we always have a throw on the bed so you can't see the cover so it won't matter that it's two tone!

Also need to get the beef stew into the SC and get it going - not quite sure where this morning's gone - note to self - must try harder!!!

Anyway - hope you all have a fantastic day.

    Morning everyone

    Happy Birthday N9eav
Happy anniversary CCStar and PinkWinged
Good luck and hugs to everyone who needs them.

I've been reading the SAHM posts with interest. I so agree with the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" attitude. Like others, I work p/t to fit around my kids school hours. Thursday morning is the only block of time I get off, but I am teaching recorder at my kids school across lunch, then have to go into the city to teach 1 kid a music lesson at college. It doesn't feel like work as I can do both in my jeans :j

Anyway, plans for the morning, put wm on, wash car, and if time, cut the grass at the front. I did the back at the w/e, but the front is looking messy now. I suppose I could do it after school when the kids can help me :p

As it's the first of the month, I need to pay some bills, so it looks like I'll be busy too. BTW, we always said White Rabbits on the first day of a month with the letter "R" in it, and Rabbits if no "R". My Dad does it and he's from NE Cheshire. DH has never heard of it, but that's not saying much! Hope you all have a good day.

  • Good morning everyone,

I've got a little list to get through today but couldn't resist coming on to say hello and hugs to all. Like the earlier poster, I'm beginning to get the hang of the shift to part-time from full time, and today is a Flylady day. Glad Feb is a short month, whilst I adjust to the reduced income with a storecupboard month for the most part - but am also going away for a week to a cottage in Berwickshire with three friends - will still OS - just take the store cupboard contents with me:D

Enjoyed seeing all the who's who pics, I already knew what a nice bunch of souls are on this board, and the pics confirmed it! Glad someone has reported the juvenile and tedious poster.

Sorry I'm a Luddite and don't have a digital camera, but I did have a mugshot taken at work so I'll ask for it to be sent to me and will put it as my avatar.

I was a SAHM for a few years, firstly when my girls were very small, I was very lucky to have that time with them. Precious memories, it's a cliche but true that the time shoots past. Then when they were in their early teens I had serious health problems and stopped work for three years.

My response to the men who said 'what do you do with yourself all day?' or 'you've got the life of Riley' was, 'Why don't we swap? You come and do my job here and I'll gladly go and do yours'. Strangely enough they didn't take up the offer!! But it stopped them, as they ony tried that tack once.... must have sounded quite fierce when I said it - I'm not good at hiding indignation!! As I'm normally quite mild-mannered people get a shock when they realise the mouse can roar!

Have a very good day and hope all birthdays, anniversaries and new starts go exceptionally well.

    All the best
    GQ xx
