OS Daily Thread 1st February 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 31 JAN 2007 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Thought I'd start today's thread, it being just about today! Hope no one minds....

Have made OH's packup and am just watching The Incredibles instead of being in bed. Bad me! :)

Going to be a busy day today...after breakfast I've got to nip to the Post Office to post the 7 day letter to the Halifax about reclaiming my bank charges and then over to my mum's to photograph a load of stuff that I found in the loft at the weekend. Some should hopefully fetch a reasonable amount - telescope, metal detector, 2 dragon tea-pots etc, but a lot is worth less...but even 50p is 50p, if I can make that above the fees.

That will probably take me all morning, so then it'll be back for Daughter's afternoon nap while I clean the house and make tea...:)

What's everyone else got planned for today?

hi Mice_Elf! thanks for starting the thread.. and :grouphug: to anyone who needs em this morning..

plans for today: pay bills at post office up the road, post card to friend for birthday and aunt (who's in hospital), get some food in for dinner, then have a bath and get all dolled up and head over to Old Trafford to see the Chinese State Circus (a bit of a treat from my Mom), then home to walk the dog and get dinner sorted out.

should be fun - i just hope my cold and cough doesn't cause a problem during the show, i'm not infectious but others don't know that..

hope everyone has a good day!

I'm up late too - as usual

Had a day off today and spent a few hours doing a good grocery shopping, taking advantage of bogofs etc. I had budgeted £30 (I live alone) for a 10 day supply but managed to come home with £3.15 and all I had planned on buying. :D I know it still sounds a lot, but I tend to buy organic.

Over the next week I have three business lunches, and since they tend to be rather hefty I will eat little in the evening, which all helps me save.

Tomorrow another day off so some good housework. I also want to wash the birdcage, not just clean it.

Another thing: I can't believe how warm it's been. I spent the whole day with the heating off and only put it on, on low, in the evening.

Oh, I received my electricity bill today: £47.33. Not bad eh? :D

Have a good moneysaving day everyone! :j

    Morning everyone.

I spoke too soon yesterday when I said I'd kept the little one home from school and he was as right as rain…...we're both having a sleepless night because he has really bad earache. I really feel for him, he's in terrible pain, restless and tearful. I can't wait until morning comes so that I can call our GP to try to get an emergency appointment.

To add insult to injury the poor child has just realised that he's lost another tooth and he thinks he must have swallowed it. I know I shouldn't have, but that made me laugh. I've reassured him that the tooth fairy will understand and he's gone back to bed again, dosed with pain killers and with two hand warmers that I got for Christmas on his ears. I just hope he will get some sleep now.

So it looks like my plans for today aren't going to happen. I'm meant to be going to Homestart in the morning, sorting out the bedroom in the afternoon as per moggins, and as it's our 'sort of' anniversary (we’ve been together for 27 years today) we were hoping to go out for dinner this evening. None of that matters as long as he feels better soon. I really hate it when they’re sick…..I'd rather it was me.

I'm off to try and get back to sleep now.

I hope you all have a good day.

Good morning all, I hope today finds you well and :grouphug: to everyone who needs one.
I couldn't get off until about 1am courtesy of Ds2 who was awake and wanting to get up and the aftermath of a hissy fit thrown by Ds1 which involved stuff thrown at OH and wee all over Dd's bed. In return he had a stern telling off and no tv for the night which went down like a lead weight. Sometimes I feel like I am my wits end with him when he becomes so unreasonable and bl00dy minded, he was on the bedroom floor having a massive tantrum like a 2 year old when he had his telly taken away in return for throwing stuff at his dad.
This morning he is barely talking to either one of us and sulking. I appreciate that maybe at 7 he still doesn't have the skills to communicate the way he is feeling or what he is thinking with any real clarity? but sometimes I just feel helpless with what to do next with him.
    Sorry, moan over.
Got to move and get organised before work. The usual to do after work, house tidy and uniforms and order the shop from Tesco.
Have a good day all, Smoky, xxxxxx
