although don't think we will do the Greenwich Observatory or the Boat Trip.
I took DS with his half sister to the Greenwich Observatory when he was 2.
But DS will enjoy his day out

Evening
Not a happy claire tonightDS2 has run a mobile phone bill up of £130.30!! It has totally wiped my account out
My DS did the same a few months ago.
It was partly my fault so I have learnt from it also.
His mobile bill comes in on 25th of the month, I get an email to remnd me but I never check it as it should be £8.68 per month.
First I knew was when I got a letter from the bank to say the DD had bounced. (the account it comes from is emptied every 2 weeks to cover childcare so there was only enough to cover his normal cost).
So that month his bill was £52
By the time I had the letter above and logged in to the account he had also run up a bill of £46 for the following month
He had used all his unlimited(?) 3000 texts in 10 days :eek::eek: and had started being charged hence the extra bill.
Luckily(?) they cut the phone off because the bill was not paid so he couldn't use it. So I left it 2 months before paying it and he had no phone to use :rotfl:
I paid it last week and now check his usage every few days and blow me he had used 500 texts in 2 days
He has paid me back because for his birthday we wrote him a cheque as he did not know what he wanted and as he has not paid it into the bank yet I have deducted it from that and will write a smaller cheque out :rotfl:
Interestingly when I checked his calls/texts I discovered that on some days he had been texting up to 2am in the morning , on a school morning . Don't think he will be doing that again after I had a word with him :rotfl:
Also the shame of having to leave his phone outside his room was hilarious :rotfl:
Sorry to rave on there - hope you manage to sort this with your son. I know he is a teenager also (my DS is 15) so make sure you get the money back as I know you use your money for food etc0 -
Yes EE, unfortunately unlimited texts are not really unlimited. I remember reading the small print when they first brought the concept out. And at that time unlimited texts was 500, they slowly increased this with demand.
Parents never understand how the kids manage to use so many texts in such a short time period! They just talk a lot!0 -
Eager - be careful missing payments on phones as it'll affect your credit rating.
There is a reason that contracts are only allowed for over 18s and there are plenty of PAYG packages that have large text allowances. Please think hard before getting contracts for your kids.
My OH spends most days dealing with parents who have huge bills in front of them and my friend couldn't get a mortgage because of a missed phone bill three years previous
And there's no such thing as a cap - no matter how much the phone providers tell you that there is!No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
The contract is sim only so only 30 days notice and my DS knows that if he does it again I can terminate his contract in 30 days.
You would think 3000 texts would be enough as he is at school most of the day - seems that lots of girls want his advice on things and keep texting him about their problems and he thinks he should respond to their plea for help.
Thanks for your concern Gemmzie, luckily the sim only does not appear on my credit file so I should be ok and at the moment I don't need any credit.0 -
EE - can he use Whatsapp - it is a free messaging app, V handy costs 80p I think.
xxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
EE, he should charge them £1 for each text he gives advice on! he would be raking it in! wow to being so popular with the girls :cool:0

For the first time in absolutely ages I am positive and happy. Yesterday was cancelled due to a nasty hangover
so today I'm fully recovered, bright eyed and bushy tailed and raring to go.
My relaxing bath is ready for me, washing is sorted and ready to go, I'm going out for a walk at 11am in the lush sunshine.
My afternoon will be filled with getting my ebay stuff listed but that's a usual Sunday event then, for the first time in about 15 years, I am going to an ice hockey match and I am soooooooo excited.
There used to a few of us who faithfully supported and followed the Durham Wasps and today a 'legends' team are playing our rivals Whitley Warriors' legend team at Whitley.
To say I'm very excited is an understatement. I'm going to dig out the old hockey tops, get well wrapped up and, by actually taking the journey through the Tyne tunnel and spotting other wasps fans, I'm gonna think I am really reliving my 20's!!
Not exactly a money saving weekend for me because I completely blew my budget on Friday night when celebrating a pals birthday, at least I saved a lot because I couldn't partake in yesterday's continued celebrations due to the inability to move without feeling nauseous. So yesterday was an unexpected NSD. Today will be a spendy day but I'm not that bothered because I am doing something that I never thought I would ever have the chance of doing again.
Tomorrow will be busy busy busy doing the normal stuff.
Hope everyone's having a decent weekend

sorry to hear that Claire.
Can the mobile company put a limit on his phone, so that when he reaches it, it automatically stops him calling/texting?
I rang and they said they will Cap itMemory_Girl wrote: »Oh Dear - what a nightmare Claire. So how does he plan to "pay" you back?
And I do hope that the phone is no longer in his possession........ consequences have actions, no rights without responsibilities, growing men not raising boys yada yada!!.
