You know what - I am going to do it. I am going to resign tomorrow. And is it too bad of me to know that I will be leaving two weeks before the year end leaving them in poo and being rather thrilled about it.
I am off now to send emails left right and centre but before that chifting the focus in my CV to pull out the experience that I want to build on. Also will do a benefits check. BF is not going to be happy but I hope all will be ok in the end."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Regarding benefits I think you maybe penalised if you just resign - eg no JSA or whatever they call it these days - I may be wrong but worth a check if you are going to have to rely on itBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

But maybe if I explain I want to get them so I can pursue jobs in that field, it might be ok. Most HR jobs want you to already have the certificates, which is no use when I haven't worked in HR previously!
Coming out of lurkdom to say as a trade it is very have your cake and eat it in that 'they' want qual and experience. What qual are you looking at? Worth shopping round, here cheapest is £600, most expensive is £2.5k, and that is for CPP (or whatever it is called this year!) which gets you into admin, not advisor. A mate of mine did a full time HR masters and then temped in HR for a year to get the experience she needed which paid off, I was lucky(ish) and got pushed into the job with no training so paid for my own CIPD via distance learning and then an Msc which has also paid off, but mostly because I specialised.
Crickett, have you tried Paul Mitchell Associates? Good rep locally.
Marru - six months wait for dole if you resign I think? The info I have is that there are jobs out there but still a gamble. I hope you have the strength to do the right thing for yourself.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
A spendy day today but nothing too huge - well apart from the liquid gold I had to put into the tank  The day out with a friend, bit of culture and a good catch up has been worth every penny

Weirdness this evening - have been sorting out finances and worked out what I would like to overpay into mortgage each month, phoned up one dormant credit card to cancel it to be told the card is in credit for exactly the amount I decided I needed to overpay each day!!!! Spooky:eek: A cheque is on its way.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000

Wish I could have that happen Dora!
And yes it's six months sanction for JSA if you resign - you can sometimes talk it down but it's not easy - can advice via PM or on the other side if you'd like.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

I know all too well what it's like to think you can't stand the job another minute. But it's often worse when you go back after a long weekend. I'm not saying don't resign, but maybe wait a week until you are back in the routine before you take your internal temperature, as it were? Having to wait six months for any benefits is a big risk when you have a little one depending on you. And is there a risk that the ex could use it against you?It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Marru you have to wait for 26 weeks to get dole money if you resign (dole now being £71 a week). I would be inclined to hang on in there and in the meantime look around for something else use Hays Accountancy also look at Randstad who do actually do the looking and will recommend you. It is far easier to get a job when you are in work than if you are not..trust me, it is stinky out there and I get knock back after knock back because it is easier for them to go for a little bint who will sit and file her nails instead of a seasoned professional.
I have a contact at Randstad if you are interested Marru although she is on holiday this week.0 -
