  • Does anyone know anything about HR and CIPD qualifications? Do you have to be working in HR to complete them?

    Hello peeps

I did naff all yesterday other than wash up - I spent time in front of the goggle box and on the internet.

I have paid my HB cheque into the bank today which is a blessing as I am currently over my overdraft limit by £20:mad::eek: I should be getting a dole payment tomorrow as well (dole has increased to £71 a week). I was feeling very down until I rang the auctioneers to find out how my lots went in the auction on 2 April - it seems they both sold, the light fitting going for £80 (I had a fixed reserve of £60) and the 19th century gaming chips (all 134 of them plus 3 broken ones) went for £280 (valued at £70-100 with a fixed reserve of £70):j I should be getting the cheque in a fortnight.

I had a knock back for a job today so rang for feedback to be told that the person who could give feedback was on holiday and back next week. Would it be unprofessional of me to ask how many disabled people were shortlisted?

Hi Psychopath - a friend of mine did her CIPD qualifications whilst working in a different dept, with a view to then transferring into HR, so I'm pretty confident that you don't need to be already in that world to be able to study for the exams.

Thanks... When I was looking into it, it said you really need to be in that field. But maybe if I explain I want to get them so I can pursue jobs in that field, it might be ok. Most HR jobs want you to already have the certificates, which is no use when I haven't worked in HR previously!

That was exactly why my friend did it that way. It did help that she was chummy with a few people in HR and got the company to pay for her course, but as you're clever, you can do anything you put your mind to - especially if you learn mind mapping to help with the studying techniques!

    Good luck :)

Hello ladies - we have arrived all safe and sound - well the start was a bit hairy as it started snowing as we went through Edinburgh (that is twice in two weeks we have left in the snow)

We have been fed, and watered and DS2 is fast asleep with a smaller fat lip than he had this time last night.

    Hello lovely Ladies

Not been on for a bit. Been huffing and puffing and getting a bit stressy about work. I tore up my timetable and decided that ultra-planning is not useful right now. I refuse to plan - whatever needs to happen will happen at some point or other over the next year. I need to pull back from the scary "big picture" and look at baby steps again.

Lots of news - so glad you're having some nice pottering time Crickett.

MG - wonderful and very moving posts on your blog. Your DSs drawings are beautiful and I was very touched by what you wrote. Happy birthday to your littlest! He is a cutie. Have fun in Manchester!!!

Psycho - I feel a bit rude shortening your username :rotfl: hope you will forgive me! So pleased to hear that your career plans are developing. It's really exciting.

Greenbee - hugs, hope your cold improves. Your house sounds so lovely now. Do we get to see pics? :D

Horace - congrats on your sales. So sorry to hear about those vendors, grrrrrrr. Hope the new house you have spotted is even better.

Hopeful - good luck with developing your venture. It's going to be great. You sound like a lovely friend.

Buffy - sounds like you're in a good position to change things. It's just not very clear sometimes what the "right" things to do are. I hope you can get the things that you'd like in the right mix now.

Funnily enough I thought of you this morning after reading your earlier post about how it might snow. We are about 30 miles from Edinburgh and as I was sitting staring out at the rain having my first morning cuppa, the rain suddenly turned to snow  and was so thick I could hardly see the garden fence .

Glad you arrived safely though and hope DS2 wakes up with a not very fat lip. Have a great time.
