Happy holidays, MG, but I'm cofused: you're going to Scotland, but taking a trip to Manchester?!

Geography never was my strong point:rotfl::rotfl:

Arran is this week - with the kids and parentals - lots of tea and home baking.

Next week is Manchester - lots of gossip and gin :D I hope :D Hint hint :D

Actually both weeks involve loads of writing and stuff - but that can get squished in around the crabbing, seal watching, fish suppers and long wintry walks =Brrrrrrrr!!!

Think if me if you see snow on the West Coast

Just a quick pop in with an apology - it was only after I posted about meeting up with Psycho & MG that I realised how rude I was being - I don't normally invite myself along to other peoples parties......:o

But both have been very polite & said it's OK - Thank you ladies........

You can come to any of my parties any time you like Clootie :) (...and anyone else actually, it'd be a ball... especially the newest Matrix member, Dotty; she'd be exceptionally welcome :) )

Uh oh, someone give me some motivation. I am trying to update my Linkedin profile and it is not going anywhere. Pah. Greenbee if you feel bored one day, could you please please have a looksie.

One thing that I am gong to do is to get all my previous bosses a reference via Linkedin. I just checked that I have all of them there. Just need to find the wording when doing the requests.

Have a great holiday MG, we break after this week.

Bored now... So bored was thinking of logging on to work even though I'm on leave, but it takes ages! It's good to get recommendations from different kinds of people, so senior people who you worked for but weren't your managers, people you worked with, people who worked for you etc. For senior people look at their profiles/careers and think whether they are the kind of person you want a recommendation from. Obviously you don't have to publish if they write rubbish! Also, don't get all your recommendations at the same time (your current employer might work out you are looking, amongst other things) so start pulling together the most important ones. And don't do "i'll recommend you if you recommend me". Generally I don't recommend people who have recommended me, with the exception of a few key people who have worked for me who both needed them and whose input was valuable to me.

Didn't get much constructive done today... Went to the zoo with my nephew instead :D I now have annual membership, so need to take him back again soon...

Hmm, what's the fashion with CV's at the moment - the recruitment chap I spoke to today said 1 side of A4 with just key achievements. Is that right?

Depends on what you have done and are trying to do, but short is good. If we are connected on linkedin then email it over and I'll have a look.

Marru - you need to get your descriptive stuff for your roles in there. Start with the current one and work back. You need to include key words that describe you in the text. And where are your languages? They're very important! I have some work to do on mine as the result of a workshop that I did in January, so will try to put some notes together over the other side as I go through.

BTW I have just checked my CV - I had to do some work on it recently and make a decision on length. The full version is now three sides, as it went over two with my last promotion - as a result I've added in some earlier stuff and made sure it is relevant. But I do agree that achievements should be highlighted (Marru and I have been through this ;)) as what you write under each role should be what you achieved and maybe what your responsibilities/accountabilities were. No one is interested in the job description.

I think I have another cold :( pneumonia doesn't come back does it?
