OK its positively Arctic here. The garden really and truly woke up last week - I think its regretting it now
My major declutter plans took a different route today - we have cavity wall insulation people coming round tomorrow - a free thing from council so we thought YAY lets take it. Took a bit to persuade them as we live in a 130 yr old stone cottage ( obvs not cavity wall!) but a 2 storey extension was built on the back in the 1970 and that is definitely cavity wall as the wind whistles though in places:rotfl: Anyway after much measuring, sucking on teeth and shaking of head my OH managed to persuade the 'man from the council' that is was the correct meter squareage whotsit and they agreed. Actually what swung it was pointing out it would tick a box and get their stats up for the area! We dont qualify for the attic insulation cos my OH has an obsession with the attic and its very VERY well insulated already. So the up shot is I get phone call form OH this morning as me and DD2 are having a lazy start to our 2 weeks off to remind me that the conservatory will need clearing as they will need access to the walls:eek::eek::eek:
Now our conservatory is on my list of things to do this year - clear it and use it for its original purpose - its a dumping ground hell hole. So no time like the present to get a grip on it.........just having a breather before tackling a bit more. Thank goodness its bin and recycle day tomorrowBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Yay approved foods order just arrived and as dd said we will never run out of food! Advice from anyone who has used them before - all the tins I ordered are battered and some are rusty - is this normal - they are all in date but have never had any tinned goods from them before and was a bit disappointed tbh and stomach doesn't feel well enough to open a few tins and check contents yet.
On the upside the hot chocolate is in date till May 2013 so will manage to drink it all up by then!
So tonight's tea is going to be tomato and basil soup with foccacia and cheese followed by ginger cake and custard!Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Hi gang. Wanted to tell you that my event in Brussels was a great success - so thanks to all who sent wishes to the Universe (it still works). Problem is that I suppose I was so wound up about the whole thing that after it I fell apart: my back hurts, have an embarrasing condition for which I had to spend two hours in A&E on Sunday afternoon and am full of painkillers. Not good.
Have been writing today but don't dare read the outcome.
MG, have a great holiday.

Eager - rather than your OH just handing in his notice, it would be better for him to be signed off sick at least he would still be getting paid. His job would be open for him to return to when his health improves. Being unemployed makes a person even more depressed and jobs are hard to come by (everything seems geared to 16 year olds and nothing for the more mature person:().
I have been doing a spot of research around my new home and have discovered that a hedge running along the main road is 700 years's old - fancy that:D
I havent just been skiving - I have been looking for a job and now I have another application to work on, now I know where the job is and how I can get there.0 -
Happy holidays, MG, but I'm cofused: you're going to Scotland, but taking a trip to Manchester?!0

Brrrr, it's chilly here, back to thermals and winter layers. Is it just me but does it feel colder than it did before we had our 'summer in March'?
Still programming for 27th April for moving house, and a ray of light is that the buyers of my buyers' house have apparently been in touch to say they now have mortgage approval. Once all 3 parties' solicitors have seen it in black and white, then missives will be concluded. Yay!
Happy holidays MG and littlies, I hope you have a fab time and look forward to hearing how it went when you get back.
Eager Elephant I have pm'd you a link but realised other people might find it useful. There is a government scheme, Access to Work, which funds support for people who are disabled to stay in employment (mental health issues meet the definition of disability), and they have given Remploy a contract to supply mental health support. here's a link to their leaflet.

It's much better to stay in work than leave, and initially you can refer yourself without having to involve your employer. Hope this helps. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
