  • Marru - that is good thinking! I had thought of that.

It's odd. Hubby and I went out to get Dotty's last few bits tonight - her collar ID tag, a nylon bone for her to gnaw and a bit of food for her to try. While we were out, we were chatting about what has happened today and we realised that for some reason, we are really not panicking about this. We have a plan. We know what we want to do and how we might achieve it. I am feeling... relaxed about what I am going to do. If we stay here in this house, we don't need me to work. And if I am successful in making these income streams work, then we might be able to move to another house. Or not. It doesn't really matter. If I am happier, and Hubby is happier, and we have enough money to cope with most eventualities, then what more do we need?

I am sure I am going to have a wobble tomorrow sometime, but at the moment, I am totally up for this change in lifestyle.

You know the agreement crickett - as long as we don't all have our wobbles at the same time we are OK.

You know where we are - we are ready with tea and virtual hob nobs when the wobbly moment arrives.

But calm is good, calm is empowering, calm is in control, calm is position of strength......................

............... now I need to go and find a place of calm - cos I have written a massive post for the morning and am a wee bit worried people will find it too long.

Crickett - I am absolutely outraged for you  I can't believe your supervisors are being so idiotic.

Once I had a horrible boss and was victimised. She accidentally projected an online conversation across the office wall b*tching about me. I quit and walked out of there with my head held high and *no* regrets. You have value, worth and dignity and should not be made to feel otherwise!

This could be an amazing change in lifestyle out of the rat race, and into something so much more rewarding. :j If you have enough to get by, happiness is so much more important than money.

Aesop - sorry to hear about your colleague too.

Robsmum - The pond trick sounds great, well done :T

finally have a keyboard instead of ipad - psycho - you're doing the right thing not going in. You need to stay in employment until a. you are fit to fly again; b. you find something else, c. they find you something else or d. they decide to dismiss you on medical grounds. Legislation is designed to encourage employers to do everything they can to keep you in work:
    http://www.hrmanager.co.uk/dismisss_health.htm
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/Sicknessabsence/DG_187161

hopefully these will help as a starting point.

Crickett - only you can decide whether you want to go through the stress of this process to clear your name, or whether you'd rather walk away. Yes, you could potentially go down the wrongful dismissal route, but would it be worth it for the money. Obviously you need to get the information together than then decide - so correspondence about use of the internet being OK during breaks etc is important. You may well find that your internet usage has been monitored (most employers have a process that allows monitoring with HR authorisation if they have reason to believe employees are in breach of their IT or business policies on acceptable use of the internet, whether in terms of time or content. (TBH I think that if companies feel individuals don't need the internet for business use they shouldn't provide access... most employees have smartphones etc for anything that can't wait until they get home). If your IT security guys have been monitoring your internet use it should be pretty straightforward to prove your case. Assuming that it is yours they've been monitoring and not someone else's! If it hasn't been monitored, but is based on hearsay/observation, you may want to ask them for proof. After all, if they were suspicious, and you'd already had a warning, monitoring would be the obvious next step.

Hope you both manage to find solutions soon.

Better head off to bed... As usual I'm delaying going and before I know it, it will be time to get up again!
  • Thanks for the advice Greenbee. Really useful.

In fact I want to thank all of you. You are just fantastic support, and I do not know what I would do without you. I know that without you, I would not have such a positive outlook.

I am off to put flea treatment on my cats and then I am off to bed as well. Night night all!

    Morning all!

Crickett, I hope you slept well and feel a little better this morning.

I've woken up on payday to find I'm £8.67 overdrawn  Don't know what I missed by had money in another account to cover it. Things will get a little easier as I have a combination of payments that either reduce after this month or don't need to be paid for a few months. There are more DDs due out but I will be scrabbling the money together from various little savings pots.

I have set myself a quiet challenge to reduce all outgoings by the summer so I haven't got this panic every month. I am also hoping to begin to generate a little extra outcome via my venture. I'm also going to apply for an online post that pays pretty well and is for someone who's SE. This will be helpful as it won't impact on my tax credits etc this year. I will just make sure to save enough to cover any potential tax payments, which should be unlikely at the end of my 1st financial year, but you never know! Tonight I will have to hunt for CV templates as it's a loooooooonnnnnnnngggggggg time since I've done one

Thank you for letting my be part of this thread. It's a safe place for me to map things 'outloud'. I could build a forest with all the pieces of paper and post its that I constantly scribble and write lists on!!! People on this thread can see that doing things differently can work and it's natural to set goals and to want to find a way of achieving more. Not everyone in real life always sees that! My friends / family are mainly happy with their lot. Those that aren't don't necessarily have the drive to make things much different and just hope for a lotto win. I can't stand still because I want more for my boys.

Have a good day everyone :)

Crickett if they don't have a leg to stand on they will know it and might be quite willing to pay you off in the quiet.

Must go we are going to be late. DD is driving me bonkers.

I think that is a pretty good definition of what the Matrix means to a lot of people.

Its hard breaking free of your "Tribe" and taking a few steps outside your comfort zone - but the rewards are Sooooo worth it.

    Crickett ((((((Huggs))))))

You sound so calm and seem to be in a better place to deal with what work is throwing at you at the moment, so different it seems to me than last time.

As always, look after you and yours, and do what is best for you at the moment.

MG - loved your blog post, it may have been long but it was interesting and certainly caught my attention.
