I 2nd what MG said. There is no reason why you can't look for and apply for alternative employment whilst you are still on the books so to speak, all be off sick. Think carefully, before you find you can't get help because of resiging.

Pond refilling as I type. Water pressure pants so it could take forever. I carefully put most of the water in my spare water butt - didn't think it quite through and now the stored water is too far away. No handy bit of hosepipe either to creat a syphon effect:eek:so todays WWMGD? moment...... With the aid of a propped up dustpan I have created a mini water slide:rotfl:working a treat.

Psychobabble - I would stave off handing in your notice until such time as you have a job to go to. There is nothing to stop you looking for alternative employment whilst you are off sick and it is easier to get another job when you are employed than it is if you are unemployed. If you hand in your notice you could find that any support you had will disappear. I would be inclined to ask if there are any ground based jobs that you could do until such time that you are cleared to fly. I know that you think you may not return to the sky but you should only cross that bridge when you come to it because after treatment your ears may well allow you to fly again.

I am about to start on another application - this time as a personal assistant to a consultant at the local hospital. The job description is huge and already I feel a bit daunted by it. I need to get the application in soon as there are 3 days before the closing date:eek: I am trying to remember everything from the 2 years that I spent working in a medical department at the UoB - must admit that I still have both my medical dictionaries.

I took the bull by the horns and phoned an agency this afternoon whom I have been trying to get hold off for a while. They sent me an email stating that they would call me by Friday for an interview - they didnt so I called them and the person was unavailable. I called again today to find out that they were interviewing tomorrow but the client had released a secondary Office Manager role so it could be that I am called for that although the job might be filled tomorrow. It will be their loss if I am not interviewed.
  • horace - they won't give me anything else to do until I've been told I can't return to flying.

I guess you are right... I'm going in to talk to them tomorrow, so I could just make out it was to ask about occupational health and speeding things up? Or just cancel it, and wait to hear from the recruitment company.

Argh! I'll maybe not go in at all now then... I'll end up saying something and dropping myself in it!!

Psycho - in my humble opinion, sort out finding a new job before leaving the current one. Even though you're being paid SSP which must be a huge struggle, it's better than nothing. Recruitment consultants have a tendency to promise you the earth and deliver a tiny rock, probably less in this environment, so look after number 1.

How long is your treatment currently scheduled to take? Have you been given any indication?

2-3 month waiting list, then potentially another operation depending on what they find. Then of course, after all that there isn't the guarantee that I am able to fly. I'm not sure how many more weeks I have left of SSP, I'm into my 4th month now.

I've emailed work to cancel tomorrow, just said I was hoping to have my hospital letter with me so I'll come in when I have that. Am meeting the recruitment company on Monday afternoon.

I know they might not deliver, but the team member that called me had to ensure the owner/manager was there when I came in to meet me too.... is that even a teeny good sign? :)

OMG. What a tremendously AWFUL day I have had.

My boss told me that they are investigating me again for Internet usage during the my work time. Because I have a written warning on my file already, the total worst case apocalypse scenario is that they will dismiss me. I don't think it will come to that, because to be perfectly honest, I haven't been on the internet during work time. I have used the internet at lunch time, but I was told that this was okay.

I am so angry and upset. Next week after this "investigation meeting" where they will decide whether they are going to take me through a disciplinary or not (they will. They want rid of me.) I am not letting them take advantage of me again like they did before Christmas. My sanity is more important than a job is. You do not want to know the kind of thoughts I have been having today. :(

Anyway. I am determined to be positive about these things. So, I have worked out three potential income streams that I need to work on and research. Two are very creative and one is more accountancy based. I also need to work out how much money I need to bring into the household. Then I can work on maximising income and minimising outgoings to make sure I can match that target.

You want to know the amazing thing? Last night before Choir Practice I sat and wrote down a letter to the Universe thanking it for the abundance in my life and thanking it for the things it is going to give me. Including the way out of my present job. I was not expecting it to be so erm... immediate and emphatic, but it is definitely the Universe giving me an !!!! kicking! :(

Right... must go and clear up the cat sick... oh the glamour of my life! LOL! :D

Not sure whether to send you a WWMGD t-shirt or invite you to join the A-Team :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sounds like a pretty creative solution though :D

Blimey crickett - I blame the sun coming out - suddenly everything we ask for is appearing at a million miles an hour. I asked for a paid writing job and got it three minutes later - you manifested the same rapid response by writing your letter to the Universe.

Can't help feeling that this will end up being good news for you though, well at least once you have completed the journey.

Keep your head, make your plan and then let us know how we can help
