Its the small things after all.

Managed to set all the clocks in the house right - EXCEPT for my phone, so had a wee EEEEEP!!! moment - fortunately nothing too serious as we were all up and ready anyways.

    Thanks Crafty :D

It's so nice to get up and see the house flooded with light. It makes life much cheerier. I am just finishing off my work for today's deadline-o-rama.

Last night I made a 'timetable to completion' of my PhD. I'm feeling so much better for having a few things pinned down.

Morning peeps - sorry I wasn't around yesterday - I was doing stuff. I also treated my mum (thank you Aldi), what would you make of this treat? She received a box of cornflour, 12 egg poaching pockets and a large bunch of daffs.

We had a goodly chat and talked about wills - I need to do one as there are certain people that I don't want to leave anything to. We chatted about the house and about the greedy vendors. Mum is going to buy new kitchen appliances, we are not going to buy them from the vendors nor are we going to buy any of the furniture. I took the posh auction catalogue along for her to see which includes the items I have for sale and she espied an early 20th Century sideboard with two cupboards and a drawer with mahogany veneer priced at £40-60. She fell in love with it and has noted down the lot number, the viewing times and all the details of the auctioneers. Must admit I have since seen a 1940's display cabinet for all my glassware in a local second hand shop for £45 so I may be using my credit union cash for it.

We spent the afternoon pottering around the greenhouse potting up seedlings - of which there are many plus I was making a mental note of what mum had in the garden that I could pinch for my own garden:rotfl: Mum also said that I must keep the house clean and tidy which I will because I will have storage and a proper means to dispose of paper with a fortnightly collection of glassware and paper by the council.

Crickett - Dotty looks lovely and I am sure she will be up to mischief.

It is glorious here again today and I am off out later to get my hair done - I may be some time as I will be in the training salon, it will cost me £20 for a cut and colour today:cool:

Well done on the outline, Lara. You still have to do it, right! Remember that at the begining you should not worry whether the text is good or not: you are producing 'marble'. Sculpting the animal(s) is the next job - this is making sure that the argument is elegant and the writing professional, easy and enjoyable to read.

Finland is lovely :) The sea is frozen and the sun is shining on the snow :-) My voice is just about coping, but its very hard work. Luckily I'm now done for the day and just waiting for OH to get back from his last meeting. I have a 7.30 start tomorrow (so will feel like 4.30am what with the time difference at the clocks changing!) so will need to pack tonight.

My occaisonal cleaner will be going in to clean tomorrow, so hopefully another layer of dust should have been removed from the house before I get home (although I suspect that my cousin will be making more while doing the decorating!).

Good to hear so much positive news from you all.

Outline is done and sent off....

Thanks for the advice FW, it is very helpful. I have a first draft written for about half of the chapters (making the marble as you say). Looking forward to getting the other half drafted for Autumn time. And then on to sculpting - not sure if it will be easier or harder!

Wowsers - what a beautiful day it has been. Littlie and I have been clearing the garden, reading Mr Men books and drinking Orange squash.

In between - well the blog has been going slightly crazy LOL and I have one of my first paying writing gigs in the bag - its amazing how positive a wee bit of good news and some sunshine can make you.

Long may it continue is all I have to say

  • Nice cheery posts from everyone. It has been quite an intensive day at work so after the last client meeting I went to Sainsburys to decompress with a browse and a cuppa before heading home, and scored a shower curtain for the new house reduced to £4.50 in a fab teal colour. Very happy with that! Sometime in the future I'll probably have a glass shower screen fitted as I don't particularly like the feel when clammy wet shower curtain meets naked flesh - *shudders* - but this will do a turn until such time.

We fitted an Eco shower head called a Camel - what it does is adds air to the water and the curtain doesn't pull in

  • Thanks Dragon! - you've reminded me I have a Camel showerhead here, and must remember to take it with me (and replace the original one which I kept, for the new owners).
