ahh.. *turns stick around to grasp the right end*

how about just sending her an email saying you want another appt at a time convenient for you as she didn't have any manners to let you know she was running late/couldn't make the scheduled time today.

or mention it to the school head.

Does anyone know anything about ISA's please? I want to ask a really simple (i.e stupid :o) question so don't want to ask in the ISA thread as I might get eaten alive!

I opened an ISA in January as that was the first time I had to have any savings. I know that will finish on the 31st March and I would like to open another one, but some of them say you can't transfer and I am not sure what that means because as far as I can tell there is nothing to stop me withdrawing the money in my current ISa and put it in my bank account and then open another one and put that money in there?

Does anyone know if that is correct please?

Leave the money in there, as it will continue to earn interest tax free.... then from April 1st you are allowed another £5k on top of that money for tax-free interest. So in theory, if you filled it to the max this year and next year, you would have 10k earning tax free interest.

If you want to open another, better interest rate isa, then you need to tell them you want to transfer your old one when you open it. By withdrawing it, you are losing out on additional interest.

MG, I would get the school to chase the Ed Pysch, as surely it is in their interest she/he turns up for their appointments?
  • Thank you to everyone for the support. It means a lot to me.

Just survived the first day back at work. Bleurgh. Yup, that about covers it.

Going to make chicken curry as hubby has just called to say he is on his way home! Hopefully we will have a nice evening together to get rid of the tensions of the day. :)

Have a good evening everyone, and thanks again!

  • OK Teacher peeps

Had a meet at 11.30am at DS1's school - last time I waited 30 minutes for Ed Pysch to show, this time we waited an hour and she didn't show - no phone call or anything.

Should I now make contact with her or leave it to school to chase? Apart from the fact I think it is down right unprofessional to be late / absent twice I think another meeting now needs to be organised for DS1's sake if nothing else.

So do I track her down, or hassle the school?

I would e mail the SEN-CO and ask why she didn't show? Did ANYONE meet you? - Surely they didn't let you just stand there? and then ask to arrange another meeting?

I would have expected the school to apologise and for someone to have seen you?

Ed Pysch's are pretty thin on the ground down here and getting one to meet with a parent aside from in an annual review meeting is unusual. However if she said she would be there she should have been there.

    good luck!
    Nevertheless she persisted.

MG definitely do what they all said - presumably the SENCo was waiting with you so he/she will as narked as you justifiably are. Definitely complain to the SENCo/headteacher and ask them to re-arrange as quickly as possible at a time that you can make which will not cost you money, or ask if you can bring ds along say after school and then both ds could sit together somewhere with a teacher keeping an eye on them.

It is very unprofessional to miss an appointment and especially not to send even an apology - even if their leg has fallen off they can still work a mobile phone!

Boss off sick this week so tis me - tomorrow I will be wearing my 'I'm in charge socks' just so I know who's the boss!

Don't think we have SENCos up here - they are in English schools. When I worked in a Scottish primary school there was no such post but that was a while ago and it may have changed?

Feeling a little bit arrrgh today. I haven't been able to write anything even half decent and this work is *so overdue* :(

My head feels like it might topple off and roll around the floor. It is thumping right now.

I had the thumping in my head - when my blood pressure was high and I didn't know about it. Lara, check this stuff out - creating is hard at best; PhDs are very hard to finish.

  • It was one of those days where it seemed a miracle I got to work, having been awakened early by symptoms and up dealing with them well before my normal rising time. Work proved to be the good distraction it often is, as any of us with a long term condition will recognise, and I was amused on my way out of the building tonight to see something on the ground twinkling up at me. It was a gold star, not the first thing you expect to see outside an NHS building. But it felt like a wee cosmic tick mark, and a bit of encouragement.

Hugs to anyone else who's feeling less than wonderful right now. I'm running a lovely hot bath, and looking forward to being out for the count very soon! Tomorrow will be a better day, sure as sunshine follows rain.

Well done Groatie, any distraction is good if it keeps you going

Been for a walk/run with nhs podcasts again - am now starting couch to 5k again with the lovely nhs laura's voice to encourage me. Unfortunately she is so nice and lovely and encouraging that every time she says "Are you ready to run...3...2....1" I have the urge to shout f off back to her (but have mostly just said it under my breath) but whatever keeps me going I guess:o Off to see how many calories I might have burnt off:j
