I dropped my mum in some of her favourite ice cream as it felt weird not seeing her at all today
I'm such a softie I know.
Finishing off my last batch of cupcakes for the day - they still don't come out with a flat top though *shrugs*No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Gemmzie - for a flat top use marg rather than butter, and keep an eye on them. If you see them start rising, take them out of the oven and blow on them to cool them, then stick them back0

Fab day in garden - got loads done but still plenty more - this is just the prep for the 2 weeks Easter break I intend to give over to gardening!

I spent time with mum again today - she invited me over for dinner, this morning I sat with her whilst she drove to Aldi as there are a few things she wanted as did I - she was most upset when they didnt have the bins nor the toilet brushes so I had to remind her that they would be in on Thursday.
We talked about the house - the paint colour has been decided - Natural Calico, this is what mum has already and I love the colour. She is going to employ a decorator as she wants him to sort the ceiling out, I did try and say that I would be willing to grab a paintbrush but I was told no. She said that if the vendors don't leave the curtains then we will have to go to the rag market and buy material and she and her friend would run up some curtains for me. The pairs that I got may not be suitable to mum's exacting standards but I can always sell them.
Dad is even frailer than he was on Friday - he has a bad back and only now is taking ibruprofen although he refuses the recommended dosage. He refused some after lunch but I saw him move the packet and went and got a glass of water and made him take one. Watching him walk to the cloakroom was dreadful as ihe was bent double and clinging onto furniture so I suggested that he use a walking stick. Mum said she knew where his old stick was in the garage and went to fetch it, we dusted it off and fitted the ferrule on the bottom as it fell off and now he is leaning on that.
Had to ditch posh high heels in favour of mum's gardening clogs as we shifted 3 large grow bags out of the boot of the car, to the wall and then took them up to the greenhouse - several trips and I had to lift the wheelbarrow up the steps.
Mum refused to let me pay for my Aldi goodies this morning and I came home with cold meat and a slice of apple pie from dinner. She also gave me £30 so that I could get my hair done - I don't think it needs doing but mum seems to think that it does.
No mum's day presents bought - I was told not to buy anything at all not even flowers as they would die (the central heating is on all the time as dad feels the cold - I feel sure that it is a sweltering 70 degrees in the house).0 -

Most of the washing is done, although it didn't do much drying on the line! Bedroom is cleared and ready for decorating (Walls need washing but I'm classing that as part of the decorator's job!). Have also made a start on getting the dust removed from the study as I need to get the room back in use. And I don't really want to be re-distributing dust! Hopefully I'll get most of it done in bits tonight although the stuff on the shelves may need to wait until I can move them back to where they belong...
Have located somewhere better to get my paint matched, and it opens at 7.30am, so that may be on the list for first thing tomorrow - after I have packed up my bed, started washing the bedding and started doing the cleaning needed to make it suitable for my cousin to stay in...
Think the wind has got up as the stove has suddenly started burning very fiercely!0 -

Hello, like psycho I lurk from time to time but dont post.I very rarely come onto MSE these days but today I popped in and I needed to just pop up to say Crickett, I really feel for you today. I understand how you feel, I have felt the same way sometimes but not necessarily on Mothers Day. It can happen any day of the year when people take maternity leave (I would have loved time off work), afternoons off for school plays/sports day (I would have loved time off). Then, as FW says, I realised that this was my problem and not anybody elses. People really dont think about hurting others when they are excited or in the moment about things that affect them. That is not to say that they dont care. You really should tell your priest/vicar how you feel. Christians are supposed to understand and help you through those feelings and if they dont well..........
Gemmzie, sorry but this really made me laughI dropped my mum in some of her favourite ice cream
It seems that everybody is still busy around here.......... hope that you are all happy. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
As I child I went to church and can remember all the children would give their mothers a bunch of daffodils during the service and the vicar would hand out bunches to all other other female members of the congregation - no one was left out
I took my boys to mass with my Mom today at the church I attended as a child. All the ladies received daffs after the service - I thought it was a lovely thing to do. Sunshine and daffs go hand in hand :A
I had 2 beautiful hand made cards from my boys and a box of fudge from my Mom - heaven!!One step at a time0 -
Hello Mrs Moo! Hope you're happy too
House plans sound good Horace.
Where are you based Psychopathbabble?
Well not such a good day here, as the fridge door sheared off - all but one hinge. OH has propped it on with wood and a ladder thank goodness. I thought I was going to have to make about 3 whole fridge quiches!!! Parts ordered but ouch - they are £45. Bit of limbo action required to get in the kitchen, but anything's better than buying a whole new fridge.
Didn't quite get all of my work done though, but under control...:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0
