Having a lazy day chez crickett. Trying my best to hide from Mother's Day. I hope all Mother's have a wonderful day, and I will be wishing my Mum and Mother in Law felicitations of the day, but I do wish the vast majority of people would remember that those of us who do not have babies, would really like to feel like a valued member of society, rather than feel like a leper.
I am not even going to Church today because I will be made to feel like a lesser person because I cannot have babies.
Not sure what to do today. Staying at home is definitely an option, though Mother in Law is expecting son and daughter in law, so I might have to go there. Will call Mum and say Hi. I think I might retire to the craft room today and make, create and exercise my imagination. I wanted to go into the garden but it is raining, so maybe not!!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

((((((((((((crickett)))))))))))) you are right, people should not make you feel any less of a valued human being, because you do not have a child.0 -
Hugs for those that need them today.
We had Mother's Day at my mums yesterday, as we're out with OH's mum tonight - we did it the other way around last year.
Lots of housework today as I have guests next weekend for my hen do (:D); bathroom is finished already, then making cupcakes and kitchen, then hoover through and finally attack the 2nd room before I pop into town.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Crickett, your answer is in your statement, really. People do think that you are valued member of society (and all women who don't have children by choice or circumstance are as well). I know I do! What I can't change is how you feel about it - this is your job.
I am saying this because I was very lucky to have DS3 (the only biologically mine one) - I had IVF to have it and it worked. But let me tell you, I never felt like a leper; I felt like someone who has a lot to give and how I do this is a different matter.
Please, enjoy the day and don't give up; you still have time!
BTW, my men still completely forgot that it is Mother's day today; serves me right for secretly preferring the International Women's Day.

I don't have my Mum still with me and it hurts every day, but on a day like today it hurts even more - a visit to the cemetary just doesn't cut it.
But in better news today is my Dad's 91st birthday - so all the family will be getting together this afternoon which will be lovely though always aware one person is missing.
My mum died very young IMO and is missing my own children growing up and I miss her everyday. Happy birthday to Tenmah dad - thats a fantastic score!crickett1234 wrote: »I am not even going to Church today because I will be made to feel like a lesser person because I cannot have babies.
That is such a shame that you feel you cannot go to Church on Mothering Sunday. Do your fellow worshippers know this. Indeed your vicar/priest/pastor?? As I child I went to church and can remember all the children would give their mothers a bunch of daffodils during the service and the vicar would hand out bunches to all other other female members of the congregation - no one was left out
When asked what do you want for Mothers Day mum I always say - to be left on my own - to be able to potter around the huse/garden doing what I want, went I want and how I want. No interruptions for homework help, hold a ladder or to have to think is everybody well fed and watered. Usually happens every year but so far although I have been left in peace nobady has left the houseDD2 has loads of homework and revision to get on with and OH is feeling sorry for himself - he has decided we may have to start shopping with L*keland as he is beginning to feel the early signs of arthritis in his hands ( inherited from his mum who had it really bad from an early age.) He couldn't open a new pot of jam this morning!
Rain cleared I am off out into the gardenBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Just reading MG's blog about beetroot..... DS comes over.
DS "what is that Mummy?"
Me "Beetroot"
DS "what is that Mummy - pointing to pic of bottled beetroot"
Me "Betroot"
DS "NO, IT'S NOT! The first one is Beetroot."
Me "ok, the first one is beetroot when it is grown in the ground, and still has it's skin on. The second one is the beetroot cooked."
DS "oh.... I don't like Beetroot"
Me "yes you do."
DS "NO, I DON'T"
Me "yes you do, I have seen you eat it!"
DS "NO, I HAVE NEVER EATEN IT, YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN ME EAT IT!"
reminder to self, never look at MG's blogs when DS is around....:rotfl:

Happy Mothering Sunday to all the wonderful ladies on this thread who are busy "mothering" regardless of having children or not.
In our church we treat mothering is at its most basic - it's anyone who is inspiring, leading, picking up pieces, sharing, caring, looking after, creating a home, making a better world. They all had floral tribute, and we love them all - the world would be a poorer place without them.
So I salute you all - you make my world a better place with your honesty, inspiration & courage, my special set set of mothering friends.
Moam

Fab morning - dd's Toybox presentation got read out in church and they sold £100 of cakes for the charity! Got my daffs (ds presented them and then got another bunch for dh - not sure he's got the hang of Mother's Day there:rotfl:)
Crickett - our church and lots of others give out our daffs to every lady in the church whether they are a mum or not, why not write to your vicar and say what you've said here - I'm sure they won't be doing it on purpose but it is hurting you and they need to know.
And best of all....dd has just made me a bacon butty so all is good chez DoraMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Well, I was hoping so too but the only reaction I got is: 'Oh, yeah. Did we?' (forget this is). DS3 is so cross with me for eating his KitKat that I am not sure whether I'll get a card for years to come. But now I am going to my friend's for afternoon tea, the cake I made look splendid and when I get back I'll do some more writing.
Oh, and you know this female thing about spending our money on the people we love? They may as well forget it! I am off to Spain to dance Flameco with the Gypsies!
