psychopathbabble wrote: »Hi all, I've still been lurking but not posting.
Just had a quick question for you crafty ones... me and my friend want to get into making bits and pieces, ie cushion covers etc. Does anyone have any tips where to find cheap fabrics etc?
Thanks
not sure what the others will say, but have you checked out your local freecycle, freegle and if you belong netmums group?
I noticed on mine today, that someone was giving away some material that she said could be cut up and used for cushion covers, etc,
Hope this helps a little.0 -
Plan to make MGs banana breakfast bars tomorrow - they look deelish
Can report that they really are - and I am laughing here at FW baking a cake to take to her friends - "new tricks" anyone?
Psychopathbabble - start talking to "everyone" - some of my best fabric stashes have come from the Mums of guys I was chatting to about making stuff. Charity shops for curtains and duvet covers yield masses of fabric for the money.
Got ALL of my fencing up yesterday -Wooop!!!! Also got a very tatty lillac tree removed that was causing problems with a dry-stane wall that we have. So between that and priming the desk again I fairly fell into bed last night.
Busy day as I have another school meeting to go to today.

Good Morning
Another beautiful day here today, Have emptied the dishwasherready for tonights dishes to go straight in,
Chicken carcuss in the slow cooker making stock plus hopefully enough chicken bits to make chicken and noodle soup for DH to take to work, Made him Carrot and parsnip soup yesterday, only had enough left over veg for 2 portions but better than nothing.
All clothes that were put in laundry basket last night have been washed and are on the lineso not a bad start to my day
Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Lovely day here too. It was frosty first thing, which wasn't fun with no heating!
One load of washing on the line, one in the machine. Airing cupboard has been cleaned and refilled (it isn't nearly as warm with the immersion rather than the boiler heating the water). Tomato and pepper soup blitzed and frozen. DW emptied.
Didn't get to the paint place first thing, so will need to go after my 11 client call. I'm training a colleague and hope they've done their preparation or it won't be much fun. Cousin is arriving at 10am to start the decorating preparation and help with the clearing up, but overall it isn't looking too bad. Just wish I could take this week off!0 -
Gemmzie - for a flat top use marg rather than butter, and keep an eye on them. If you see them start rising, take them out of the oven and blow on them to cool them, then stick them back
I use Stork for OH's and Vitalite for mine, I might have to try the taking them out trick. Thanks! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

psychopathbabble:
Outdoor markets, car boots, charity shops (especially local charities), online fabric shops (eg abakhan) sometimes ebay...
As MG said, duvet covers and I'd recommend curtains; Frugal Queen's blog suggests men's shirts, some people convert tshirts, old denim jeans and shirts... you may well get a decent couple of yards even if you have to work around wear, tear and armpits;)
I acquired a splendid pair of Mr Men curtains on Saturday; 45 inches wide and 48 inch drop; enough there for a shirt for Him Indoors and more besides!
PS: where are you going to get your cushion inners from?‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Make sure it is room temp and use the solid stuff Gemmzie, not soft.0
