Psychobabble - try charity shops and if you have a net curtain/curtain shop near you they may sell off fabric. I know that my local one does as I spotted a rather nice curtain (described as an offcut although it was one curtain) for £2.50 in their offcut bin. When I looked at it the only thing wrong with it was the fact that they had tried to punch holes in the top and some didnt work properly so it was ditched.

Have managed a fair bit today - washing up done (used a new cloth), rubbish taken out. Electricity supplier rung up - I am no longer switching as I have a better deal from my current provider which is cheaper than UW. I have a fixed price until May 2013 and can take that with me when I move and then add on gas.

Is it wrong to feel gleeful about free seeds? I opened my lakeland gardening catalogue this morning (I always like to look these days and never buy) there on the front of the mag was a packet of sweet basil seeds:cool:

Aldi were selling packets of seeds for 39p each yesterday (up to 1000 seeds in each packet).

Steady on there, don't want you getting reckless :)

Just popping in quickly but I had to respond to a couple of things.

Crickett you contribute to society whether you have your own children or whether you ever interact with anyone else's or whether you interact with other adults, that is what society is, it is the relationships we all have with each other and one person can make a difference to other people's lives without even knowing it!

And MrsMoo I have to say that maternity leave was the hardest thing I have ever done, it certainly wasn't like taking time off (and I have taken unpaid time off to travel in the past - that was bliss!) After 6 months' maternity leave I was exhausted and it was such a relief to get back to work for a rest!

Sorry I upset you, I had no intention of making it sound like maternity leave was easy. "Time off" was simply a choice of words (probably the wrong ones) to suggest that I too have felt like Crickett at times but for me it manifested itself in longing to be able to have maternity leave/take "time off" for sports days etc

I guess it proves my point when I said:-

People really dont think about hurting others when they are excited or in the moment about things that affect them. That is not to say that they dont care.

My whole point was to help Crickett to understand that she is not alone in her feelings and that if she speaks to people they may understand and she, in turn may be helping them to think about how they approach things in the future.

    OK Teacher peeps

Had a meet at 11.30am at DS1's school - last time I waited 30 minutes for Ed Pysch to show, this time we waited an hour and she didn't show - no phone call or anything.

Should I now make contact with her or leave it to school to chase? Apart from the fact I think it is down right unprofessional to be late / absent twice I think another meeting now needs to be organised for DS1's sake if nothing else.

So do I track her down, or hassle the school?

It's unprofessional and rude. Was her secretary there? Or anyone? I think a note/email explaining that you waited for an hour and would like to reschedule asap.

And at some point, a conversation about how the inability of staff to turn up on time indicates a lack of respect for both parents and children, and is not setting a good example to the children they are supposed to be teaching.

Feeling a little bit arrrgh today. I haven't been able to write anything even half decent and this work is *so overdue* :(

My head feels like it might topple off and roll around the floor. It is thumping right now.

Is it too early for wine? :) I might have to get emergency chocolate rations!!

if you have it, email the school gov's, copy in your local ed authority and your local mp and cc the Ed Psych person in as well.

Say how digusted you are with the lack of regard for something this serious, from the school an the ed psych. These days they say bullying won't be tolerated but it appears to be ignored instead!

Does anyone know anything about ISA's please? I want to ask a really simple (i.e stupid :o) question so don't want to ask in the ISA thread as I might get eaten alive!

I opened an ISA in January as that was the first time I had to have any savings. I know that will finish on the 31st March and I would like to open another one, but some of them say you can't transfer and I am not sure what that means because as far as I can tell there is nothing to stop me withdrawing the money in my current ISa and put it in my bank account and then open another one and put that money in there?

Does anyone know if that is correct please?

The meeting wasn't about the bullying issue - more about his transition into High School and getting the "learning Support" organised.

I know I have this "thing" about people being late (hang over from years as a Stage Manager) but I am calmer now and not so ticked off. Still I think it is only manners to let people know you will be late, or not going to attend.

After all I took time away from work - paid for childcare for DS2 and turned up on time for a meeting about my boy - where she was I am still none the wiser.
