Morning all. Just stocked up on DH and DS allergy tablets as they were both suffering after yesterdays lovely day. Thanks to :money:guide I got them much cheaper online than the local chemist so thanks Martin. Stocked up for the summer with free p and p.
My big frog is to cull my clothing and shoe cuopboards. I am always full of good intenstions but like most people I wear 5% of my clothes 90% of the time, and always think I need to save things for some unspecified occasion.
Well following GQ'S example I am going to go for it this morning.
Wish me luck
Very envious of DS1's find MG, the desk looks great. Will watch Claudiac's experiment with interest too.
Have a good day everyone0 -
I can't believe it's over a week since I last posted. Oi, who pinched all that time!
Anyway, it was a busy and productive week although we still haven't planted the apple tree - hope the weather stays fine so we can get it done this week.
We've managed to have a veg juice 6 days out of 7 and had a different one each day. I think it's helping me to feel a bit more energetic.
We had a lovely walk on heathland by the sea yesterday as I've been looking after a friend's dog since Thursday evening. Well, OH and dog walked - me on mobility scooter. We wondered why we don't do it more often as both National Trust properties locally have good hardy scooters available to borrow FOC.
Busy few days coming up including trip to cinema tomorrow to see "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel". I think i'll only have time to do a few small things from the jobs list before Thursday when hopefully I can have a good crack at it.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
Have you heard of Annie Sloan's chalk paint? The thing is you can use it straight onto furniture, without all the sanding/prep. I was going to buy some till I saw the price!! I googled homemade chalk paint, looks simple enough, so I will prepare a small batch using a tester pot and some plaster of paris I found in the garage. Will try it out and let you know how it goes. I have ordered a small bag of calcium carbonate from ebay to try out as well. Won't be today mind, I have my GS and we have work to do in the garden. I hope the sun comes out!
If you use the ratio 2:1 - that is 2 parts emulsion to one part either plaster of paris OR leftover grout (:D) you end up with a paste that when dry you can use as chalk board too. I did some lovely pastel coloured ones for the old school. Great idea for a kids room - or a kitchen noticeboard that is a bit less in your face than all black.
If you are using chalk paint on furniture (which is a lovely finish) then you need to remember to wax over the finish when you are done to protect it as it can be a little friable. But does look authentically "Shabby chic"
Just waiting for the "anti-bullying" procedure to be emailed over form the school - although I may have a wait as I passed another Mum on the warpath as I left (same kid with her son)

So there is a problem with the child, he is not just bullying your DS but other children too
His parents really need to look into why he is bullying other children.
good luck, hope you can get this sorted soon.0 -
MG, thinking of you and hoping that you will sort this out. The problem with bullies is that they don't stop till 'the victim' stands up to them - which is a bit of a problem because often it is very difficult to get out of perceived 'victim-hood'. Ouside intervention is of limited effectiveness - if the teachers can do something in the classroom, there is always the playground; if they interveen on the playground there is always outside the school.
My concern is that bullies usually have to be scared to stop (they are cowards but you haver to 'speak their language).

Yes Aesop - it is not just DS1 that has been on the receiving end - more a case of whoever is there when the lad loses it get the clout. DS1 has just happened to be too close twice in the last week.
Would it be horrible of me to say that if the lad doesn't mend his ways as a big fish in a little pond - then next year when he goes up to the other high school there are plenty of Bigger Fish who may take exception to his attitude IYSWIM (some of them big brothers of DS1's friends). Then of course he will be perceived as the victim.
There is obviously something going on with the lad - so hopefully enough complaints will mean it will stop being swept under the carpet and a resolution found for the best for everyone.
BTW - tutorial for basic household soap on the thingie - the one I make to make my own "ecover" knock-off cleaning products.
Spring Cleaning WILL happen in this house at some point - PROMISE

My cousin and I are working on the plans for my decorating... we're thinking of a limed effect on the floorboards rather than just normal painting as it might wear better. Any thoughts from the creative people here?
Work is going slowly today, but I need to get on as I have to go and take my DB, nephew and niece to the garden centre... there is no way my brother can by plants unsupervised, let alone with two small children in tow!0 -

MG
I time, you will have to have a logo - this blog stuff is a lot about branding and a picture does it wonderfully. A good picture this is!
