Hope it gets sorted soon MG.
My cousin and I are working on the plans for my decorating... we're thinking of a limed effect on the floorboards rather than just normal painting as it might wear better. Any thoughts from the creative people here?
!
Greenbee: I have just done this on our bedroom floor! Dilute 2 parts emulsion with 1 part water. Apply with either a roller or soft cloth, allow to dry completely.Apply 2nd coat and when dry apply 2 coats of clear water based varnish. Has worked well and much cjeaper than buying limewash and also smells much better. The trick I found was to amke sure it is totally dry before doing any further coats.Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

Well I got hold of the anti-bullying policy - usual LA stuff -taking three pages to say nothing but include ALL the relevant Buzzwords. :rotfl::rotfl: Sorry ladies - but we have all been guilty of drafting at least one of these horrors at some point in our life:D
However - I think I shall start with querying the- all bullying incidents are recorded and monitored and reported on a regular basis
and- appropriate training and support in anti-bullying are available to staff, pupils and parents / carers
not forgetting- they are aware of the policy and understand the school's procedures for managing incidents and supporting and managing pupils who have been involved in bullying incidents.
That'll do for the go get.
Head suggested that they can't do anything is kids don't report incidents.
My question was then "Why do they NOT report incidents then?" - as two children were worried enough about DS1 to tell their parents after school on Friday, and their parents were sufficiently worried to phone me about the incident's ..................... how come these kids didn't feel they could come to the Teachers?
Despite one child being reduced to tears in a PE class, nothing was noticed by any teacher? Doesn't ring true to me.
Although this young lad is obviously a "trigger" it would appear that there is a systemic failure here to consider as well.
Off to draft an appropriate "official" letter, SIGH!!!!

((hugs)) - Keep recording all incidents to them in writing, its the only way and you can keep copies, insist on written responses. Bullying can be reported by anyone not just the victim, so teachers, TA's, dinnerladies, other pupils etc - why have none of them reported it. When did the school last address bullying behaviour in assembly (either within a class or within the wider school ones). Will they now do a circle time or equivalent about this issue? And if not - why not? As you can tell I've been here and got the t-shirt, PM me if I can help more
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.0 -

Thanks... I will consult my cousin, as he's actually doing the work! He's always up for trying new things, and we can test on some offcuts. I found that the pain eventually flaked off, but assumed the diluted emulsion would sink into the boards, and presumably varnish is tougher than paint?
My throat is feeling worse againmaybe I've talked too much...
MOAM - did you get my FB message about tomorrow?0 -
Varnish is way tougher than paint - tip form a Stage Manager who has probably painted acres of floor ( can also do fancy woods, stone and marbling LOL)
Use a roller to put on the varnish and stick it on a pole so that you roll back n forwards without having to be on you knees - then you can get loads of layers of protection done without killing yourself.
Also satin finish acrylic varnish is the best - not too shiny and dries quickly between layers.
Funny how everything you have done in the past eventually becomes useful again LOL

It's been a loooooooooong time since I properly posted in here, have been mainly lurking. However have decided that now that stuff at home is more settled (ish) that I ought to join in.
Life is plodding on, feel like I've got a bit complacent (as MG will testify to the pic of hideously green and furry jar of pesto I discovered earlier in the cupboardpic was on FB) so its time to give myself a kick into touch. Things have been slacking whilst new conservatory was built, having a lab puppy just adding to the mess and something else that needs attention so times need changing.
My crafting is non existent, I have a shed load of DIY that needs doing, garden needs complete overhaul and I am liable to fall at first hurdle with these frogs as they feel so overwhelming. So time to get the right balance, stop aimlessly surfing online, get proactive but also fit in some time for myself and puppy training. DIY will be a dinosaur sized frog which probably won't really start full blown until DD starts full time at school in September.
Anyway enough of me
MGabout DS1, hope this child gets sorted out once and for all xx

Mmmmmm varnishing...I love varnishing but will only do furniture and with a paintbrush too.:D
Good luck with the school MG - remember that the school has a responsiblity to DS1 on his way home from school until he reaches your doorstep. Maybe kids don't report incidences of bullying to the teachers because the teachers are dismissive - just a thought. I cannot stand bullies - I was bullied at Middle School and a bit at High School (because I was the smallest in the class - I soon grew and became the tallest:D).
Had a good day at college today - learnt some additional things about application forms. Also managed to persuade the tutor to set up a job club which only seems fair as she is teaching us about jobs and how to apply for them. So it seems that the job club may just happen on Thursdays:D
I have a question about eggs - I have 4 that need using up (no real means to do any baking either) and a 4 egg omelette is a bit extreme. Can beaten eggs be frozen or do I have to make hard boiled eggs and possibly freeze them?0 -
Beaten eggs can be frozen - so have a 2 egger and freeze them for another day.
Would suggest making two omelettes and freezing one - but frankly they end up being rubbery frisbees and are pretty pants

Horace how old are the eggs? If you are going by their date ignore, ive eaten eggs a month past their use by date with no problems, just be sure to do the float test before using.
If you really need to use them I can't help with the freezing aspect, might be worth searching on the OS board.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

How do you feel about a trip down south... I'm sure you'd have my house redecorated in a couple of days!
Voice has now pretty much completely gone. Must remember to whisper - I stopped (because one doctor told me to) and have got out of the habit, which has probably strained my voice. I'm starting to worry I might have caused some permanent damage, so will be annoying the doctor again on Wednesday.0
