Whew homework with DS1 accomplished - Volumes and spellings and dictionary practice.

Mind you - today he has also

    Made soap
    Made Portugese Broa bread
    Hob nobs - natch

and ....................... he was delivering some biccies to one of the old dears around the corner when he noticed a pine desk at the side of the road. He asked the guy if it was just being thrown out , and it was, because "the top got ruined"

Said desk is now here - the top has had something like nail polish remover spilt on it - BUT IT IS NOT RUINED!!!

15 minute project for this week is going to be turning it into a fabulous piece for the larger letting room. FREE FURNITURE!!!!!! Free, great quality, solid wood furniture BTW! Bit like this but wothout the price tag:

Well done DS1. He is making you so proud at such a young age. My DS has told the nursery that mummy recycles and he helps, which he does. He made his own cupcakes and took them in for his birthday, and he told his keyworker all about scanning at the supermarket, he does, and how mummy doesn't scan coupons properly. Not that, sometimes bar code doesn't scan.

LOL at littlie - DS1 is really pleased about his piece of "road-kill" and has asked if he can help refurbish it too.

Everything is a little bit of learning isn't it?

Well the 'cull' has begun as has the goal setting - ds's room, our room, car and porch all gutted and some decluttering done. Busy setting goals in head too but need to sit down with a beer and a book to help set them.

Well done DS1 MG - does my ds bringing me his balloon sword at a birthday party today, and then going back to the balloon man looking sad, twice, and so coming home with 3 balloons qualify him as mse as well?:p

Need more sunny Sundays I think - I like them! Yay for spring-like weather :-D

Panic over re the light fittings - I spoke to mum earlier (I have spoken to her twice this evening), she disliked all the lightfittings at B&Q and liked a few at BHS, so I was told to go online and look which I have done and funnily enough I happen to like the ones that she likes. Psychically she phoned me just as I was looking and told me that she and dad would be buying the light fittings. Now in the living/dining room I will be having two allium lights - these will match the bargainous wire lamp that I bought at a trade show - it looks like a wire vase with wires (to represent leaves) which are swirled upwards (I could change them but like them as they are) and inside the wires are 5 teasel shaped wire heads which contain G4 bulbs. These halogens last for ages and the whole effect is rather swish. The allium lights have been reduced to £60 from £80. There is another light fitting called glass slats which will go in the hall and in the bedrooms I will have two shades called Mosano (I think). We have vowed to go to town to look and then order them online.

Good old DS1 for finding a desk. I can remember finding the trolley that I use as a tv stand waiting to go into the bin at my now ex bf's place - he had got a bigger tv with stand and felt that this trolley was past its best and was going to chuck it - I rescued it:D

I have washed up and am about to do dinner - sirloin steak (thanks Aldi).

I have gotten the cheese out of the freezer - I will have pizza for tea tomorrow. Didn't walk to Morrisons either..decided that I had some chopped tomatoes in the store and will use them.

Morning ladies - almost warm enough up here this morning to have a cuppa outside in the garden.

Got the school to tackle this morning so wish me luck. Then I have the morning free to focus on building a new Facebook page - so maybe here is where I need my luck, although I have got hold of a brilliant tutorial which I shall follow step-by-step and then let you have the linkie.

    Busy busy day

Sending some positive vibes for your trip to the school this morning MG - I hope you can get it sorted out quickly!
Well done to DS1, finding free furniture (a young man after my own heart, he is).
Have you heard of Annie Sloan's chalk paint? The thing is you can use it straight onto furniture, without all the sanding/prep. I was going to buy some till I saw the price!! I googled homemade chalk paint, looks simple enough, so I will prepare a small batch using a tester pot and some plaster of paris I found in the garage. Will try it out and let you know how it goes. I have ordered a small bag of calcium carbonate from ebay to try out as well. Won't be today mind, I have my GS and we have work to do in the garden. I hope the sun comes out!
