Hi all. I've not caught up with thread yet. I've had a lurgy for the last few days and not been able to face reading a book never mind the laptop! I hope everyone's ok.

MG - I have tried to post on your blog re lemon marmalade. It keeps saying i've entered the captcha incorrectly. Thought I'd mention it in case it's not just me!

Not sure of these lottery numbers yet - but will give it a go.

Got an interesting offer yesterday, been invited to join a think tank at local uni on behaviour management. Will involve helping to write stuff to go online to support teacher training students, will get me out of school and meet other professionals - quite exciting stuff.

Today is swimming (ds) dancing (dd) then horrible histories (all) then housework then school work.
    Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
    Emergency fund £1000/£1000

I've had a look Hopeful - but I can't see that have done anything my end. Mid you I always live in fear of Mr F replacing the "arithmetic" captcha with something like Fermats theorem:rotfl:

So if anyone else has a problem - give me a heads up and I will get MrF to give it a once over.

Aesop - when people you live closely with "feel" you trying out new stuff (positive thinking and other stuff) they can often react in the short term by lashing out to regain the status quo. It "wrong foots" them somehow when you stop reacting like you have always done. So keep you head down and keep on keeping on and it will calm down I am sure.

Going t treat myself to a coffee and a breakfast(with lemon marmalade) but without a "Muuuuuuuuuum!!!" and then leap in to my day with gusto.

  • Good morning Matrix...!

I have not been around for ages, and I am just making a flying visit. I am off on holiday to Wales and Dublin on Monday and before that I am cleaning the house. Like it has never been cleaned before! Just had a LOVELY bacon sarnie, and I am about to go and "attack" the downstairs cloakroom.

I am just going to potter and not kill myself getting it all done, but I am determined to have the house shiny by the end of the day. Time to get the music on I think! :)

Hugs to all, positive vibes as well... and I will log back in when I get back from the land of my forefathers! :D

  • Morning all !

The Moam household is having a "tidy out the house, cars and garden weekend". The bin is emptied Monday so it will be full, and we have Ebay & charity shop bags on the go. Ebay listing in the evenings, and a tip run in the morning on the way to church.

Then we can see what we need to do to love this house and make it a loved home. Nothing drastic, just some TLC and small decorating jobs - we have been inspired by MG's adventures....

2011 was a difficult year in many ways for us, so we have decided that 2012 will be a great year for our family. And just changing that mindset has brought some fab things this year already - now how far can we take it?

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Snowball says too far away, working hard to bring it forward.

Just had that conversation with DD1 - 'Well I am beginning to feel like XXX ( town where DD1 at uni) is like home now' So I feel a bit  about that
I have been expecting it for a few months now and its her roundabout way of saying 'you were right about doing a degree mum I am going on to do a Masters so will need a bit more funding'. So I feel a bit  about that!! OH and I always said we would help financially with both DDs for 5 years of education post A levels although we have never told this to the off spring so they dont take it as given ;) And this only because its looking increasingly likely DD2 will be doing a 5 year undergrad course and also a degree, however good, doesnt seem to be enough currency in the job market these days............ so to be fair to both............. DD1 has already said she will be applying for grants and scholarships etc
Anyway a lot of thinking to do. First a coffee made by OH and a croissant before I start the day

Actually I started the day at 3.30am - couldn't sleep and when I finished trawling internet I decided to do the early morning run to MrT at 5.30 am:eek: so it feels like mid afternoon already:rotfl:

MG - sorry to hear about this bully. I hope it gets raised now and sorted for good.

Aesop - (((hugs))) sorry to hear your DH is not being more supportive. I hope he comes around when you show him how much a positive mindset helps.

Crickett - helloo, so nice to hear you're going off on hols. You deserve it - have a great time!

Moam - I'm having a big tidy up too, and making an audit of home improvement things to do too. I hope you all have a very good 2012.

Igamogam - has your DD considered studying for a masters part-time? I did, and it was great. I got so much more time to understand things and develop my skills. I was also able to support myself and get work experience too.

Have had someone quoting us Solar panels today £4000 :( bit out of our price range at the moment.

We hummed and haad about it for ages and decided to take the plunge just before the cut off date. We have to borrow some money but luckily in a favourable position with the mortgage ( couple of years left) so with some jiggling it was doable. Already our consumption from the grid is down 16% compared to this time last year. I think the price of the panels etc will keep coming down as this time last year when we first looked at the same firm for the same gear quoted us nearly twice as much - its like all technology I suppose. I am glad we dithered :rotfl:

She is an all or nothing type of person.PT wont keep her motivated! She has already approached a company she is wanting to work for, asking to sponsor her and here we have scholarships awarded through the uni for 'home grown' students which are linked to employers - so I am hopeful our financial outlay wont be too great :)
