    captcha is working fine, Hopeful?

Perhaps my brain is still functioning so badly I can't work out 7-5...it wouldn't surprise me :rotfl: I was on my phone earlier so that could be a possible reason. I'll have another go later. The LO is napping and I have a serious amount of housework to tackle. Being ill really isn't practical ;)

Just had that conversation with DD1 - 'Well I am beginning to feel like XXX ( town where DD1 at uni) is like home now' So I feel a bit  about that
Far better to be sad about them leaving home than worried they will never leave home :rotfl:. Seriously, I knew my DD would never come back home permanently after uni and although it made me :( it also made me :D that she was happy and independent :T.

Currently looking at living room light, which has dirty marks and plaster marks from when I had the ceiling replastered 5 months ago. It's annoying me, but I don't think, at 5 months, it's quite ready to be cleaned ;). After all, I estimate to get a chair, unscrew bulbs, take shades off, wash and dry them, replace all and wash plaster off the light may take as long as 7 minutes . I will continue to monitor the situation :)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Oh I am fine about it really. She was never going to come back home after university - after all I didnt and made 'home' in the town where I was a postgrad :p She has always been independent from the moment she was born - 'this little lady knows just what she wants and how to get it!' were the midwife's very words and when DD2 was born we got 'well she is very determined' and both comments have turned out to be very true. We have brought up both our girls to be very independent, fight their own battles and make their own informed decisions, in the knowledge that the safety net of mum and dad would always be there should it be needed. A safety net to be used only to plan their next step not a get out clause to absolve themselves of responsibilty - so far cant say it has ever been used :D

For me its just the sound of another apron string going 'twang' :rotfl: Even though we have prepared her for this moment,it is a sad moment, however much we know she must fly the nest and start striding out on her own path through life.

  • I so know that feeling Igamogam - when the hatchlings fledge!

My girls left home at 17 and 18 years, but by then force of circumstance (I was seriously ill) ensured they could cook, shop, launder, clean, iron, decorate, and entertain (vital life skill, that!). All initially under supervision, but by the time they left home they were ready and able for independent life.

The only thing I regret about that time was the loss of fun times doing stuff outside the house - but they got to do that with their father, aunt, uncles and friends - so I don't think they missed out too much.

It's a sign you've done your job well as a parent that your DD has the confidence to start putting down roots elsewhere. And you can always visit!
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

    Evening all...

Crickett - I hope you have a lovely holiday.

Nipped to A*ldi this morning - I walked there and back, I now know where to get some sturdy boxes from:D Stardrops bought in Home Bargains and I picked up an Arg*s catalogue. Another bit of mooching took me to the Heart Foundation shop where I saw some lovely wardrobes (great, I see wonderful antique wardrobes when I don't need any:mad:), saw a fab Panasonic tv for £35 though and a sideboard/display unit for £80. Saw a fridge too but as soon as I opened the door I wished I hadn't so shut it rather quickly..it stunk to high heaven:eek:

Spoke to mum earlier - as I have a lurgy (irritating cough that comes and goes) then I won't be visiting tomorrow. The lump on Dad's head was a wart apparently - sure was the biggest wart I had ever seen:eek: Mum is going to put an offer in for the sideboard that is in the house already - it dates from the 1950's and has been well cared for - I suggested that I wouldn't pay more than £35 for it (going by others that I had seen that were similar). She asked me to look at BHS and B&Q for lights as I need two ceiling lights in the lounge/diner - so I have looked online. No really expensive ones for me - the ones I love are £9.98 and are contemporary plus I can change the iightbulbs more easily - none of the halogen rubbish for me:D Mum plans to get these (although I have a sneaky feeling that I may have to buy them) and will have them fitted when the chap comes to sort the wiring and the fuse box. I am starting to feel excited yet very scared at the same time.

Horrible histories fab but some of it in 3d which always makes me feel barfy and headachy - reminder to go and have eye test again and not ignore the letters!

Epic fail on the hosuework and schoolwork but did manage to 'spend' the boots vouchers on some treats and essentials and careful 3 for 2ing and vouchers meant I got £41-45 worth of stuff for my £30 voucher so quite happy with that and some points too :)

Need new pj's for bedtime story day at work so going to use next vouchers for those and get something really snuggy. Dh gets paid Thursday so freezer planning tomorrow - still eating through half of AF order!

Very tired and creaky, as are parents but garden showing the benefit. Hope to get more done tomorrow morning and then should be able to keep it under control.

Any other way and you would have to charge him £70 an hour for the privilege :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: "Ma'am!!!":D

DS1 was punched twice again whilst they waiting to go into Gym. Will take it up again on Monday but TBH I am sick to the back teeth of hearing that other boys name mentioned.

    So happy weekend ladies

Hmm I would be inclined to say that you have done the softly softly, down to the police station/a&e and get the bully/bully's parents up on a charge

I can't sleep. Have started thinking that this may be that my body has changed and I can't sleep long and/or late any longer (another way to say that I am getting older). Another way to explain this is that I am too worked up with writing and all that - but I don't wake up at 4.00 am covered in cold sweat; I wake up at 6.00 - 7.00 even os Saturday and Sunday.

Last night we saw a wonderful movie - I have not laughed like that for a long time and at the same time...There were many touching, sad moments. It is called The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and was a gem of writing, acting and almost all else. What do you think of this (or something very similar)?

'This should be taken as a triumph, Madam. But I don't know what triumphs feel like because my life has consisted of disasters separated by the occasional carastrophe!'

This came from a young man but is something that I could have said.

Go see the movie if you have the chance; it is an 'uplifter'.

Today is going to be a writing day - blog writing one. And thinking: this morning it occured to me that I am not feeling very happy because I have allowed myself to lose my balance again. I do mostly one thing - write - and this is not very good (physically, psychologically and emotionally).

    Have a good Sunday all!
