Last night we saw a wonderful movie - I have not laughed like that for a long time and at the same time...There were many touching, sad moments. It is called The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and was a gem of writing, acting and almost all else. What do you think of this (or something very similar)?

'This should be taken as a triumph, Madam. But I don't know what triumphs feel like because my life has consisted of disasters separated by the occasional carastrophe!'

This came from a young man but is something that I could have said.

Go see the movie if you have the chance; it is an 'uplifter'.

We went to see this on Friday night - fab and a must see. There are some great lines and laugh out loud moments : not sure if this is a word for word but you will get the idea - 'If I want your opinion I will give you one' (Penelope Wilton to Bill Nighy) and just the right amount of poignancy . Brilliant understated acting We took our DD2 along and she enjoyed it too

Firewalker I sympathise with the sleep thing and the feelings of being 'unbalanced' in some way. I seem to be doing only 2 things at the moment - work and come home to sort my domestic life out; desperately trying to get some order - one is not balancing out the other :(

Another one up early - but there is a load of washing out on the line and another tray of oatcakes in the oven - felt a but blah yesterday afternoon so retired to the sofa with the next book I have to Mind Map.

Oatcakes are smelling fabulous though - all toasty and gorgeous.

Agree with the unbalanced feeling - I always feel this way at the change of the seasons .................. spring wants me to jump up and change everything ............... I have moved into new houses 8 times in the week before Easter.

Off to put on a load of whites

I had a look at your Oatcakes on MFi3 - the only thing stopping me is that I have no oatmeal in................its on the list for next week :). Planning on doing a huge get ahead cook/bake today....well we will see as garden is beckoning/pleading for some attention:rotfl:

I need to do some packed lunch baking today - so will head back into the kitchen in the afternoon for a putter.

Had 15 minutes in the raised beds this morning - managed to dig them all over in record time - using a hand trowel. Love these beds. Too much risk of frost to plant out but may do some seeds indoors later.

    But first - a cuppa

Up early too. Sofa bed put away (it's quite comfortable but it's a pain having to keep putting all the bedding away and getting it out in the evening!), inroads made into a couple of shrubs I want to get rid of in the front garden. One is a very vigorous pyrancantha, which is fun. Looks like I may need to do another tip run today once my parents arrive and move their car... Cooking juices and veg from last night's slow cooked lamb being turned into soup with some pearl barley and the leftover carrots.

Suppose I should get back out into the garden and do some more clearing of the jungle!

OMG!!! down to my last two bars of basic household soap - time to pull my pans out to make some more for the "Spring Cleaning" to come.

No veg fat to be had in my town at all - so will make this lot from cheap lard - actually most soap would have been made from animal fat so I don't feel too bad, we are not veggie and I suppose Lard goes through less industrial processes than veg fat.

After this lot is made and cured I will be able to rustle up more HM cleaning products to get the house shiny and clean for the perfect lodgers to be.

Up at around 8.45am today - I did get up at an ungodly hour and nipped to the bathroom then went back to bed and slept right through.

Today, I have been looking up lightfittings and lightbulbs on the internet - I know which light fittings I like but have discovered they do not come with bulbs..one hopes that B&Q sell the bulbs to go with the light fittings..I would need 60w E14 golf balls...if they don't then I will have to have a change of plan. I could drive over there but cannot be bothered today as I know it will be jam packed and full of bored kids who will be running around and screeching.

Might go for a wander to Morrisons as I quite fancy french bread pizza (I have cheese, french baton and herbs) I am in need of the lovely tomato, onion & basil gubbins that mum picked up from Morrisons which I haven't seen since to go on the top....oh botheration, just remembered I haven't gotten the cheese out of the freezer (this could be tomorrow night's tea.

Must do some washing up and some more sorting out.

Horace - I find its easier to grate cheese and then freeze it in a rigid box - you can then scoop out what you need and it defrosts in minutes. Mind you I have in the past resorted to grating from a freezing block of cheddar when required.

Or if you have a ball of mozzarella - turf it into a bowl of warm water and leave it to defrost in its baggie (I buy and freeze mozzarella ten at a time as the kids love HM pizza on a Saturday night.

    BTW - 54p per bulb?

  • Lots of thinking going on here about what I can take to the new house - bearing in mind this is a serious downsize. So, the smaller of my 2 beds, a double, and its bedlinen, is making the cut. A friend is taking one of the sofas (both are too big), and the other will be offered to Women's Aid.

And so on, and so on..... I'll be left with the essence of what's important to me (and what fits in!) I find the simplifying and the sifting and sorting very exciting, for really I'm only saying goodbye to material things.... just stuff.

What really makes me happy is seeing friends and family, and going forward, I'll be able to save for a trip in 2014 to visit family and friends in Oz and NZ. Now, that really is the goal beyond the goal, and the inspiration for and beyond this whole process of change! :j:j
