Hmm couldn't quite do the spit thing in a small staffroom with 8 people in but went well and I was bright purple as usual:o like the smiley!

Didn't have lesson observation as half class were out doing other stuff so re-jigged till Monday instead so plenty more time to get ready for it which is good.

Got to look at £ tonight so might have to open up the last bottle of Christmas wine to help me through it:p

Just about to dish up the Kidney Bean curry - using a tip from my Indian mate who has lost 3 stone with slimming world in the last five months.

Smells wonderful - and the base of pur!ed onion, garlic and ginger works brilliantly to thicken the sauce.

    Mmmmmmmm!!!

I've just been to look at the bit of floor that has been taken up so far. There is SO much junk under the floorboards. and i can't work out quite what all the pipes are for. One lot must be for the radiator, one from the boiler to tank and back, but I have no idea what the third lot are for (and they must be heating as the hot water isn't on at the moment, and anyway, the hot water goes down the other side of the room). So tommorrow I need to remind him that he's supposed to be clearing the crap from under the floorboards and lagging the pipes... just in case he forgets :D I don't think my hoover would forgive me if I used it for that, and I'm not about to get down there with a dustpan and brush as it's far too grubby.

Happy 8th of March, my friends: the International Day of Women. I know we will rule the world one day soon but women are still in a disadvantage so let's stop and recognise the struggles past, the hardships present and the future adventures.

Also, it is rather amazing that a wonderful, politically charged holiday like to day in the UK became Mother's Day - putting women where they belong. Thinking about it, May, 1 International Workers' Day) is forgotten as well and we have a Bank holiday.

You can see I am in revolutionary mood, yes!

Mother's Day was religious in origin, Firewalker. It's always on Laetare Sunday halfway through Lent when you are allowed a relaxation of the Lenten fast (so eating chocolate then doesn't count:rotfl:). So it was traditionally the day when girls in service would be allowed to go home to see their mothers
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Yes happy International Womens Day everyone. I am so happy to have met you all, and you have helped me so much. Thank you! :j

MG - So sorry to hear about your DS, I hope the school sort these problems out right now. Thinking about him.

Dora - you have wine left over from Christmas?!! :rotfl:

Claire - Wow, you go girl! :j Very inspiring.

Good on all those cleaning, decluttering, refurbishing and streamlining, like Robsmum and Greenbee.

Not really a great day for me so far as I failed to finish my abstract, and also didn't fulfil my challenge to stop procrastinating! But I have made SOME progress I think. I have to finish the darn thing tomorrow to get feedback on it and submit it next week.

... and it's not until March 18th either...

at least I hope not, as I haven't done anything about it yet...

I have just ventured out of the house as I was going quietly mad confined to one room while the carpenter was here (upstairs is currently pretty inaccessible), and have been to waitrose (quietest supermarket...) for more fizzy water, jelly and frozen yogurt. They appear to do their reductions at about 7pm... not a huge volume, but significantly reduced, so I came back with more than I'd planned for, but have some nice bread to feed my parents at the weekend, and some turkey mince for the freezer.

As I STILL don't feel like eating chocolate :( I think I'm giving it up for the rest of lent. And possibly alcohol... although I may make an exception if I'm eating out (so this Friday, and when travelling for work... not exactly often!)

Totally exhausted... no idea why, it's not like I've done anything recently...

DD2 has given up chocolate for Lent and has been doing very well up til now but she had a hard day at school so came home and attacked the choccy digestives and changed it to 'giving up chocolate at school for Lent'. However as I try to ration what she has at home but can't control what she eats outside the house, I think that still constitutes severe chocolate restriction
