    Good Morning

DS2 is poorly and is flaked out on the settee love him. Hope he'll be ok as I am out today. Ds1 still in bed so I best go and wake him in a min or he will be late for atc.

I succumed to the lurgy on Saturday evening with no warning whatsoever! I had started cooking dinner and was mid converstaion with BIL and BANG down I went! Seems to be a 24hour job managed to keep lght stuff down yesterday:j feel ok today just rather like I had a baby overnight:eek:so took a sickie day today. A bowl of porridge later and feel much better, so just going to potter today. Loads of snow here.
    Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

    £2 saving plan:-
  • No snow here, but a heavy frost.

Not normally off on a Monday, but working week switched around. So have got on with domestic admin - paid bills, renewed car insurance and breakdown cover. Parcel ready to take to PO and two cheques to pay in at bank.

Big pot of soup on the go, shredding more paperwork this afternoon.

    All's well in my world!

MG I hope the contents of the envelopes are stimulating and the mentor's doing good work with you!

Loads of snow on Saturday afternoon and into Sunday which put paid to my plans to go to my parents for Sunday lunch. Mum had already called me about it - I reheated the stew I made on Saturday and had it for dinner last night. I find that twice cooked stew is much nicer than when it is cooked the first time around.:D

Not much domesticity going on here - never is:o I spent a large proportion of yesterday in front of the goggle box because that room was warm. I did whinge about the fact that Channel 5 and 5 USA only seem to have access to 5 western films because they seem to have played the same ones every weekend since Christmas:mad: (I just love a good old western).

I managed to prepare some applications and even rang a GP's surgery about a job today and they are sending me an information pack. They positively swooned when I said that I had spent 2 years working in Cancer Studies at the University and therefore wasn't fazed by medical terminology (have medical dictionary which gets read occasionally).

Today, I discovered that I am at GCSE standard for literacy after attending the local college to see if I can get onto the employment skills 4 week thing via the jobcentre. How embarrassing though that a question was marked wrong because they claimed that I had mispelled a word (the scenario was that there was a word that was spelt incorrectly and I had to spot it and then note down the correct spelling) - it would appear that they rely on computer spell checkers - I must admit that i never use the spell checker on the computer because I know they don't work properly. I am eligible and I will get a qualification at the end which is equivalent to a GCSE but I can do an additional exam too which will give me 2 GCSE equivalents. Fingers crossed I get a job before then. The jobcentre compliance people haven't been in touch since - she never returned my call (how rude!).

    Have a good day folks.

:j:jGood news today - car passed MOT with no problems for the grand total of £40 - took in the original papers from the first garage and they checked out everything and only agreed with the exhaust being loose, so they banged a support back in and it passed. All the other problems were either false (washers and non-parking wipers) or not bad enough to fail MOT (lights, tyres, engine fault light because of exhaust) and all the rest was just extras in case I had money to burn.

Am off to the original garage to speak to manager on Wednesday in person as I find the personal touch more effective than a ranty phone call.

The snow here began to melt rapidly this morning. We then had slush and now it's icing over. Either way it's chilly!

Today was a day off. After a very bad night's sleep I decided to nap with my LO this afternoon. In some respects I feel like i've wasted precious time, but on the other hand I wouldn't have got much done anyway I was so tired! Mom was coming to babysit tonight so I could go to my exercise class - I need every ounce of energy I can get for that!

My work day tomorrow has a gentle start but the pressure will be on by the afternoon! Half term next week though, so will hang on to that thought.

Good luck and positive vibes for you Marru and Horace :A

And people wonder why so many women are apprehensive about dealing with cars and garages  Glad you weren't taken in by the original garage. Enjoy your face to face discussion :D
