Orange are offering the iPhone 3gs for £20 pm contract, so they should be able to let you have it on your current deal.

    We have snow :j

I took the boys out 1st thing this morning to the shops to stock up on all we needed. We came home, but before I unpacked the car we had a quick walk before succumbing to the call of mugs of hot chocolate and coffee (for me!). We have no need to go out for anything so am happy to be housebound in the warm and cosy for the weekend ;)

Happy 18th to your DS Claire :)

We have 'orrible wet rain - IYSWIM! January was pretty miserable in our household and February looked at getting off to a poor start with the job news. Some movement on that front - a job may be offered to me. Doing a similar thing but with new people, new stresses and challenges. It would put another 20 mins on my very long journey already but it would be full time employemnt on the salary I am paid now etc etc. But again its only a maybe. Thinking about it I really have no option and it could open a few doors that have been firmly shut for the last few years so I am hopeful shall we say but not entirely convinced unitil I have all the details in glorious technicolour! As its a redeployment I will be asking for the addtional travel expenses - can but try :)

Putting the final bits to my PhD ( actually final letters would be EdD but its the same thing in essence just delivered differently) application - asking my employers to fund it ( ha! What a long shot !!). My very good friend teaches in the dept I am applying to so will be picking her brains for some tips. Think I stand a reasonable chance of being accepted looking at the criteria - if not this time, then next year. Now need to come up with a thesis...........I do have some ideas :)

For those facing redundancy - I know the process is horrible, the atmosphere at work unbearable and the stress at home difficult, but both times i've been made redundant it has ended up being the best thing for me. I have got out of my comfort zone, out of toxic atmospheres, and found new and exciting challenges. Hopefully it will be equally productive for you.

As to how to survive the process, if possible, keep your head down. Go in, do the work you have to do, and come home. Avoid the gossip and speculation as it will make things worse.

I went to the post office this morning and got rid of a package that has been lurking for weeks, and have been to the tip (getting rid of tetrapaks) and then to a DIY place to pick up a replacement light fitting as we broke on last week. In theory I only need the shade but it isn't easy to get on.

Washing up is done, and kitchen relatively tidy. I have also managed to do a bit more tidying in the study, and really need to summon up the energy to do my hand washing :(

    Afternoon peeps.

Shivering here - although the heater is on in the living room. I nipped out this morning to get the remainder of my prescription and to get bread - I came home with some rolls and then stuff from the whoopsie shelf in the Co-op (I know I am on a diet but I picked up a box of reduced French Fancies:rotfl:). Nipped into the butcher too and got a pack of lean stewing steak for £2.99 and half of it is being made into a stew as I type. My flat is so cold that I cannot thaw anything out so I couldn't thaw out the steak that is in the freezer already.

Had a fab idea last night - I remembered that I had a 13.5 tog duvet that I had packed away so I slung it on the bed on top of the duck down duvet which is tinner that is already on there - a quick toast with the electric blanket and it was fab..I didnt want to get up this morning.

It has been snowing since about 2pm here and Mum phoned me earlier to say not to go around tomorrow because she had a blizzard outside and she didn't want me driving over the Lickeys which are treacherous in the snow. She was having huge flakes of snow whereas here it was small bitty stuff but that did change to bigger flakes.

Used a free paper today to apply for a job - I saw an admin post at an accountants so I have just done my application. I have seen another job but it is over in Nechells which is a bit of a pain to get to, Monday will see me phoning a GP's surgery in Droitwich (easier for me to get to by car or bus) for an application form as they have a job going too.

Had a discussion about the house with mum today - it will be a complicated thing but the house will be bought by a trust and the trustees will be mum and dad, essentially I will 'borrow' the money from the trust to buy the house and it will be done in such a way that soon to be ex cannot get his sticky mitts on it, nor will anyone else who I may meet. They are going to try and look at it next week. It is being done this way to avoid capital gains tax and is perfectly legal. I am scared stiff..I need to get money coming in and need to get off the cowing dole, sorely tempted to go back to my business and get a job and pick up working tax credits which are less than dole money but at least I won't be claiming from those mongrels.

Stay safe and warm peeps - my little tootsies and paws are blue with cold so I am signing off now.

That sounds like a really good plan. I've 'escaped' a marriage but am tied with the mortgage on our house which he is still in. I suspect it will cost me to sever the ties, so if you have the opportunity to protect yourself that's fab.

Over the last few days i've discovered how draughtly my lovely new house is! My mission before next winter will be to have lots of lovely heavy curtains and draught excluders for the downstairs door. Some of the doors could do with curtains too I think. It's times like this I wish I could be creative with a sewing machine :o

Hope everyone's safely inside and warm - get under those quilts Horace!

Have spent the afternoon watching my lovely children play without me while I sneeze and snuffle.

Have also started to look at shuffling money around a bit - got a letter offering a 0% balance transfer to a credit card I already have for the next 12 months - would give me more of a chance to pay some £ back. Have also worked out we could actually pay quite a bit more off each month than we have been doing without suffering too much - but depends a bit on how much the car repairs/MOT are going to be
