  • Horace I have had uveitis, it is soooo painful when it flares. Big hugs and I hope the drops work soon. Remember to wear dark glasses when it's bright outside - it really helps. I wear them as a matter of course all year round, not just in summer. The low sun at this time of year is actually more problematic when I'm driving, than high sun in the summer.

Dorastar, love the image of your credit card sobbing quietly in the corner lol.

Kittikins, that's great to have the support and presence on Friday of your OH's BIL. With that and the Twinks you should be fine!

I hope in due course we hear some of what your challenges are MG. I hope you enjoy them!

Going to have a shower and get warmed up - it is bitter here - and the heating is on... but it's still cold. Lot of layers for today I think.

Didnt the mentors challenge you to a similar thing at this time last year MG, no internet or media for a week or something similar. Great challenge though especially if it lets you get through more stuff.
    Good luck,
I'd struggle with that one methinks x

Applications being done today and more jobhunting, website will get a re-write too - the times they are a changing to quote Bob Dylan:D

I am wearing sunglasses indoors at the mo and resting my eyes more. I have now got myself into a routine with the hot water eye bathing and my drops are now back on track.

    Have a good day peeps.

Hope your eyes are okay Horace.

    Good luck Kittikins!

Dora - hope your car costs aren't too much.

I have had another nice day off. Went to get MIL present and stopped at the cinema to see the Artist. It was great! Mid-week cinema matinees on your own are one of life's best pleasures. Last one was my 29th birthday in Kampala, nearly a year ago! How time flies.

Not quite got all day off - got a supervision by Skype at 5pm. Hope my chapter has gone down well. In the meantime some cleaning I think. The in-laws are coming to stay tomorrow early evening.

    Nicetime all :D

The major reorgansation/ slash and burn that we have all been dreading has been announced - all very vague. So far I cannot seen where my future ,if any , is and nobody is answering any questions. All very tight lipped and passing the buck. 25 years of service and experience about to go down the tubes I fear. Going to go out to the garden in a minute and scream then will probably howl and kick a few things over. Then try and think what to do next to get some bluddy answers. Oh and I have also submitted an application to start a doctorate - must be mad

Igamogam, I'm a little further down the process than you hun....and its very distressing time. Whilst we might all embrace change in our lives, it helps if we have some choice in the process.

In my case I feel my contribution to the profession I'm in is almost over, which is sad really, not least for my particular client group.

I have no practical advice as I've found this to be one of the most difficult situations to deal with as its being done to you as opposed with you. Talk through your feelings with people you trust and try and look after your health. X

knowing you're going to be reorganised and/or redundant is a really difficult process at any time. I found that, when there isn't any definite news about what's going to happen to your department, the gossip goes wild and that can be quite draining. So keep an eye on your health and get outside as much as you can...

Humph - day of three parts
    1) birthday good pressies random but ok and choccy always well received

    2) car not fixed or MOT'd at all - tried to give me a huge list of things which didn't need doing starting with them 'washers don't work' followed by me "well I used them this morning so that's a bit weird isn't it?" This was at 3.30pm when they'd had the car since 8am and only just given it a check over. So I flatly refused to authorise any work till I checked it out. Got there at 5pm - new battery in key fob and now key fob doesn't work  but guess what the washers do!- am going back tomorrow to have words as the people I needed to see had scarpered.Only costs incurred £6.50 for new battery in useless fob.

3)dd and ds have shared their colds with me for my birthday so I am now streaming with cold, can barely speak and dh is on mega shifts till Sunday so kids will have to entertain themselves while I sneeze at them.

Gosh Dora it seems like you've had a mixed bag of a day. Belated birthday wishes :D Last year my birthday was very carp, but my lovely friends declared I was to have 2 birthdays, just like the Queen. They designated a day the following week when they all came round with wine and food. It was the best birthday i'd had for a long time ;) Hope your germs go soon.
One step at a time ;)
  • I like the "Two Birthdays" idea... Belated birthday wishes from me too, Dora.

I've had a nice day, been fed and watered tonight at a friend's house, which was very pleasant - good company and some good laughs, and some thoughtful moments too.

Redundancy is a miserable business and the lack of control or choice in one's own fate are very unpleasant. Hugs to you both, Igamogam and Triker.. and anyone else at the sharp end.

And I hope all with the lurgy feel better soon.
