Horace - sit down and think carefully about what you might want. Firstly get all your stuff back - tell him you need it for your new place. It's yours. It might be worth trying to think of what you would consider to be yours, what his and what shared, and concentrate on the shared stuff. Don't let him control you.

Dunno if mentioning the new place is a good thing, might give him ideas about delaying divorce.

Mine is mainly under control, but it flares up like this every couple of years. I can't eat wheat or dairy.
I've had some soup so that's something. It's a definite fear of food, I might have to try hypnotherapy actually, I was meant to have it on the NHS as pain management but the woman kept going off sick!
I go from scoffing when it's calm because I can and then eating nothing because I'm sick and scared.

We don't have eggs, and they aren't normally good for me anyway. The shakes all have lactose in :(

Sorry, by that I meant the current place, as he hasn't seen it... But you're right.

Gemmzie - you can get vegan shakes, based on pea or rice protein. Tey would be worth trying and if you get on withbthem, keeping for this kind of situation. What about stuff like fortisip? Talk to your GP or consultant about what to do when this happens and what plans you can put in place to cope during a flare up.

Horace - make sure you get a Financial Clean Break Order as part of your divorce, that way he can never come after you for money (or vice versa) and please do use a solicitor, you need to be protected from him (my hackles have risen a couple of times at things you've written). Big hugs x

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! Thank you Aesop for the hug too. I think most people on here have a story to share. Some have to struggle far more than others though. Despite all the difficult times, I have a lot to be grateful for. I have my dips but try to pick myself up as soon as I can. I find it tiring being sad for too long!

MG - is NLP the National Literacy Project or something else? I am intrigued! My eldest is nearly 9.

Horace - I hope you don't mind me sending you a hug {{{ :A }}} I think you've had lots of valuable advice that I couldn't add to.

Well done, Marru on the achievements of the day! I've signed up for Flylady emails. I get quite excited in the morning waiting for my 'phone to beep, telling me an email has arrived! *is there a prize for being a complete saddo????* :pAnyhoo, the point is, I love having a list to follow and the sense of achievement that I am getting my new home in order.

After a serious lack of sleep last night, I am retiring shortly. So good night all ;)

Hello Hopeful and welcome. NLP is Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Its a form of therapy and if you Google you'll get lots of references which should explain a bit more about it.

Hope you get a better sleep - night, night

Thanks for your wishes. I've had a lovely day.

We had a long and delicious "family lunch" at a restaurant with my sister, brother-in-law and their children, partners & grandchildren (all bar one - who'd been sick overnight - and her mother); 13 of us ranging from 6 months to 69! (Luckily, none of us is superstitious!) DH & I have been there before and knew that the place is normally fairly quiet on Sundays, so we were able to take over one end of the room. The staff were great, the children behaved surprisingly well and we even got a huge discount using my Tastecard! We all ate far too much (well, the adults did, anyway) so a few days of restraint beckon....

Have just been online and ordered my Senior Railcard. There have to be some advantages from turning 60 (though I'll have to wait until the tail end of 2013 to get my State pension & bus pass).

    Have a good week, everyone.

    GF x

ETA I will get Christmas put away this week - though I don't feel quite so guilty about it now having just noticed that someone in the street still has their Christmas lights flashing in their window! (Even the Orthodox Christmas has finished now.)

Is fortisip the stuff that tastes like milk mixed with juice? If so, it makes me vomit. I'll have to have a look for vegan shakes. I honestly hoped the flare-ups had gone so didn't have a plan :(

Thanks for the link Ellidee, interesting ideas. Especially cause 4, antibiotics, I was on them solidly for around eight months when they thought I had tonsilitus/strep/glandular fever... but I've had several courses of probiotics since.
IBS is just their go to diagnosis when they don't know, even the gastro specialist admitted that to me and the allergy specialist. I think a lot of it is linked to the nerve damage I have but they never bother exploring any of it.

Time to start rattling a few cages Gemmzie and getting some answers - that's a crappy situation to be left in. My mum is OK on juices (she used to have what they thought was IBS) - how are you on those?

She had a book from Jason Vale (The Juice Guy) and at least she was getting good nutrition - from memory she was Ok with bananas and advocados so used to bltz those in to pep up the calories.

The NLP spelling strategy is a Neuro Linguistic Progrmming technique that I often use with dyslexics as the first stepping stone to learning how to learn - anything you need to learn should have a method - cooking, reading, knitting, carpentry, dancing ........... and spelling. Its just that sometimes the teaching of the "method" gets glossed over or simply not taught and some kids can then struggle.

How do you teachers on here teach the kids how to learn spelling - DS1's teachers answer to this is "we give a weekly spelling test" - took ages to get him to answer the real question "How do you teach them how to learn spelling" - he didn't really have a answer, hence me teaching DS1 this at home.

Its dead easy BTW, but more importantly it works for him and he is a very happy bunny
