Your parents sound fab Horace. Wish mine were like that, supportive I mean.

Anyhow, see the solicitor first and see what they suggest. We can all suggest things to you, but it really is about what is practical and what will and will not work.

Can't help you with gas, as it will depend on how house, how warm it is with the curtains, etc, and how much you use the gas. I pay a combined amount of £69 per month for gas and electric. Know everyone will say it is too high, but we have a gas boiler that was not designed to work with our shower system. So while I will shower and put up, DH insists on having a bath every other day as he will not use shower, and DS has to have a bath, as cries until shower is finished. Plus it is playtime for him. But him and Dad share a bath sometimes, or we save the water, and next one jumps in.

Our house is very cold and although I am very strict with heating, we have gas cooker, electric oven. Washing machine on most days due to amount of washing created by DH and DS.

with home insurance, you can shop around, even with valuable stuff, make sure you get best quote that covers you, see if you can go through cashback site and get cashback, etc.

you WILL get a paying job, tomorrow is a new year in the Chinese Calendar, and therefore THERE IS a new job waiting round the corner for you.

Think of it this way Horace - after 25 years of marriage it will definitely be 50 / 50 - that means EVERYTHING taken into account - pensions, equity in houses the whole shebang. You could buy yourself a LOT of financial security on 50% hon - time to regroup, time to build something without the pressure of cashflow. Then you are in a position to pay your parents back as you desre.

Focus on the abundance to come - cos it is coming.

Mind you - like heck would I walk away with 10k after 25 years. Horace 10k is what I SAVED in two years, one of them on benefits, one on £800 per month - it's not that much money is it? Well it is when you haven't got it - but with a brain and a plan everything is possible.

Righto - stand by for "Proud Mummy" moment

DS1 has just correctly spelled a list of fifty words after I taught him an NLP spelling strategy. He is so proud that he now has a tool to learn any spellings ..................... maybe it is time to start sharing with him more of the skills that reside in this house LOL

Cursed of cursed things a button fell off my skirt today and as I planned to wear the skirt to parents I had to sew the thing back on. The skirt is chocolate brown and I cannot see dark threads so my button is now sporting bright yellow thread:D I looked quite smart and it was commented upon that I was wearing a skirt, decent top and decent jacket (thank you FWM sales:D and to Uncle D. for his 20% off at M&S) (Uncle D. worked for M&S after he was made redundant and worked in their warehouse even though he is retired, he gets some 20% off vouchers that he gives to various members of the family:D)

I have come home clutching another free paper - The Standard and ther is a job in it that I can do quite easily and I can get there by car for sure (it is in Bromsgrove) and if the weather is bad then I can get the bus or even walk although it is about 6 miles it is certainly do-able. Must get some stamps - must also sort out package to be sent North. I plan on getting a decent job and then I will start up my business again.

Oh and one of the first things to go to the gold shop will be the engagement and wedding rings:rotfl:

This year it is the year of the Dragon...Dragon's are a sign of wealth:D

Can't do nuts. Tried jam - made me gag. Tried small piece of smoked salmon - nearly sick. My body does not want food, urgh I really don't want to have to go to hospital next week

Good advice from Lara. Try rice pudding (made with rice milk if dairy is a trigger). And white bread. What about scrambled eggs? Meal replacement shakes are a really good standby for this kind of situation.

Horace - sit down and think carefully about what you might want. Firstly get all your stuff back - tell him you need it for your new place. It's yours. It might be worth trying to think of what you would consider to be yours, what his and what shared, and concentrate on the shared stuff. Don't let him control you.

Claire - pincushions are fab :)

If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

    Hi Gemmzie

I have IBS too but mostly under control. I am so sorry to hear you've been so unwell. That sucks. I used to rely on white bread as a staple after a flare-up. Have you read all the new research from Australia on FODMAPs? I follow roughly something similar but with wheat allowed - LoFlex. You could try a shake made with rice milk and some mango? Does pureed food help you? Something like a carrot soup, but without onions or anything? Have you encountered those nutritional meal-replacement shakes?

I also found hypnotherapy to be extremely helpful to reduce the stress triggers. After a bad flare-up it's hard to get eating again because of the trauma of the upset. Not very nice :(

Mine is mainly under control, but it flares up like this every couple of years. I can't eat wheat or dairy.
I've had some soup so that's something. It's a definite fear of food, I might have to try hypnotherapy actually, I was meant to have it on the NHS as pain management but the woman kept going off sick!
I go from scoffing when it's calm because I can and then eating nothing because I'm sick and scared.

We don't have eggs, and they aren't normally good for me anyway. The shakes all have lactose in :(
