want to quote for coming down and sorting out my floors MG? Flooring companies don't want to know about ordinary pine floorboards, carpenters don't want to know about repairing floors...

How difficult and timeconsuming is it? I can see that I may have to do it myself...

Without sounding "countryist" in the least - what you need is a tame Polish Builder. They seem to be much more interested in repair and refinishing - where our local builders just shrug their shoulders and quote for a new floor.

The thing is it's not a complicated job - just a bit physical and time consuming. Tame Students? Young Fathers looking to pay off Christmas? Tools are hired in so they don't have to be proper builders.

ETA: OOps that will teach me to read the last few posts before chipping in LOL

AT that price I would buy any full length lined curtains that you fall in love with - you can always shorten them when you move in. With metal windows you will want to have them as thick and as lined as you can lay your hands on.

Extra fabric makes cushion covers and stuff too.

Sounds like a lovely house - I am glad you got a viewing in daylight

I'm back in the house again - so time to get on with some work - although my legs feels better for a stretch out my armpits still ache :rotfl::rotfl:

The house has upvc windows it is the next door house that has the old metal frames - you could see the frost on the inside of their windows this morning. I also figured that curtains can be shortened - must see if I can get my old singer machine from OH bearing in mind that he still has his mother's old treadle singer machine. Mine comes with a tin of Boots Blackcurrant Pastilles dating from 1929:eek:

The house got me because the agent I saw today said the house had been on the market for 2 weeks and they had had a lot of interest but so far only me viewing it - methinks the agent was lying. Mind you have seen them sell houses that have received offers and then saying that they have received an offer of £88k but they are expecting offers of £95k - talk about dutch auction:eek: Although I do not know anything about those houses - just what I have seen in the paper being sold by the same agent.

I take it MFI3 is still being worked on as I just clicked on it and it came up with blah, blah - which made me laugh!

Wow Horace I need to move near you for curtains! Busy day and chippy tea (didn't have enough £ so name is in window till next time)

Going to carry in the school-a-thon tonight as dh is here to sort icklies out and make loads of brews.

Talked to everyone about the holiday and dd/dh both love the Liverpool idea especially as dh has worked out he can shuffle shifts and have a full week off by just taking 3 days holiday.

So going in on the Wednesday with our suitcase on a train (including cossies for the pool:)) Check in and then gym and swim then out to China town for tea and maybe a movie. Then following day we will be tourists doing all our favourite free museums, and the new one we haven't been in. Then back for another swim/jacuzzi and out for tea - maybe an all you can eat something. Next day leave case at hotel after checking out and maybe do cathedrals or ferry across mersey and/or Albert dock and/or maybe the 'duck' and then home on the bus (runs past our house) with our postcard to drop in at Nans.

Not that I am trying to get orgnanised early or anything :0

Which is precisely how I am feeling at the moment - but ssshhh!!!! I think I may have actually cracked the new navigation;)

I'm hoping that by splitting it out this way, there is a resource for "get out of debties" and one for "lets find out how to build incomies" - because the skills are turning out to be slightly different but complementary.

Anyhooo Its looking a lot cleaner and crisper, doncha think?

I did wonder who would be the first to giggle??

Fingers crossed I can start reloading the better posts back soon

Great idea. We are all guilty of not appreciating our local attractions. Every time I have moved (and that has been a lot) I have spent the last few months trying to see all the things that I haven't got 'a roundtuit'.

Even now, we only go to some places when we have visitors who go 'Ooh!' and 'Aah!' and we swell with pride. :rotfl::rotfl:
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

I am out of bread - how can that possibly happen?? I have a cupboard full of baking stuff and a breadmaker - how come I am ow having to head out before breakfast to buy a loaf!!

I feel a "getting organised list coming on"

Ds1 has got a visit to his proposed "High School" tonight at 7pm - so positive vibes would be appreciated to keep him (and me) nice and calm.

    Off to brave the frost
